What was really fun was speaking Malay Indonesian again. I forget which words are from Malay but does not matter. Have to brush up the different times of day in Indonesian. Also get a nice polite reaction from people here for doing so.

I managed to get round Malaysia for years with only three words;

Makan, Ikan and Tandas 🤣

I have improved somewhat since my first trip to Indonesia back in 1995, and discovered some differences between Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia.

I am enjoying the language exchanges and conversations with people here. It's good fun.

Mantap! 👍

OK Getting money from ATM's. I have cards from different countries. So arrived at airport used my visa card to pay for VOA US$35 and Telkomsel sim card. All good. Exit customs and go to BNI Bank and another bank at the airport, failure to withdraw cash from my visa card using credit card or my saving account. Same for my HSBC ATM Card which is not visa but the BNI Staff said can use, mission failure lol
Staying in Novatel Airport hotel till tomorrow when my two buddies from the UK arrive. Novatel has a BNI ATM machine. So I am thinking before I decide to go to HSBC bank try my Australia ATM VISA card. Success. Paid for diner last night at Novatel using my visa card no issues. Food was great. Indonesian food.

So off to a dive shop this morning to buy some extra bolt snaps and other gear.

Another question: is dive insurance mandatory? It is not clear to me if Dive the World agency demands it or Kri resort.

Whether it's mandatory or not, would you even consider traveling to a remote place like Indonesia without comprehensive dive insurance? I sure as hell wouldn't - besides, it's cheap; all things considered.
