Stream2Sea defog. Reef safe if that is important to you.
…and you know that baby shampoo is not reef safe? Compare the ingredients - lots of marketing spin (and higher cost - like triple the price) out there…

100% Baby shampoo.

Flame (burn the silicon film) off the inside of your brand-new tempered glass first before applying the baby shampoo.

Once the silicon film is gone, then put a drop of 100% baby shampoo before every dive, smear the drop evenly on the glass lens, rinse the excess shampoo off the mask by sloshing some water on the mask without rubbing it off with fingers as the finger rubbing would remove the delicate shampoo film off the mask, rendering the defogging work you just did useless.

baby shampoo mixed with water or a mixture of dawn dish soap and water.

I use baby shampoo and no water. Works just as well. I put some on mask and wipe with tissue until smeering is gone. I also use it with fresh water to rinse the inside of my BC and for wetsuit pee away.

+1 for SeaVision. It's awesome and I never have fogging even if not reapplied over multiple dives over multiple days.

For a new mask, you can take the manufacturer’s protective film off carefully with a lighter or I make a paste with a sprinkle of Ajax and 1 or 2 drops of water. Just rub it around thoroughly right to the edges of the glass. It might take a couple of times if you missed any spots. You'll know because there might be a tiny patch of fog when diving. Concentrate on that area with an Ajax or Comet paste again and you're all set.

So I’ve recently been on a dive trip to Scapa flow ( amazing btw :) ) with covid the boat wouldn’t allow you to spit in mask so provided small bottles with baby shampoo ( no more tears ) and water worked amazing and smelt good too. Just wondering if anybody else uses something other than spit and what the results were ?
When I buy a new mask, I use a lighter on it. Then, I'll use the commercial mask scrub. I'll repeat until there is no fogging around the edges of the skirt. One or two treatments generally will work on most of the lens but the edges may need a little extra attention.

I'll use toothpaste for several dives then try spit until spit will work 100% of the time. Then I just spit.

After the tonneau on my truck broke when a tree limb fell on it, I didn't want to leave an Action Packer sitting in my open truck bed. All my gear goes in the water with me. I keep my mask in my fin pocket. Ever since I started that practice, I never had defog or baby shampoo when I needed it. I had spit. Sometimes, spit didn't work so well. I found the secret was to burn and scrub the crap out of the mask until spit did the trick.

When I think the mask can use a bit of cleaning, I'll just wash it with anti-microbial/bacteria dishwashing liquid.

New mask: I put it into diswasher.
Dirty mask: I put it into diswasher.
Defogging: I spit in it.
Works perfectly. No (dangerous) lighter needed.
Babyshampoo and similar: no need for that. One more piece of equipment I can leave away. Spit I always have with me.

You don’t suppose that Dawn dish soap might burn your eyes? YBS for me please.

It’s what we use on the boat. they were using it before my time and i’m sure they’ll be using it long after my time.
