National Geographic - The Rescue

For those of you interested in a feel good story.

Some of you may remember the news story about the Wild Boars Football Team that got trapped in a cave system in Thailand, and the resulting rescue efforts.

Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (of the climbing film SOLO fame), have released a new film/documentary in co-operation with National Geographic.

It follows the story of the rescue. How an odd ball group of divers, who dived caves as a weekend hobby. Where involved in rescuing the boys.
How the success involved the Thai SEALS, the US Air Force Special Tactics Unit, the Thai Authorities (and local population) and the cave divers.

The film is a mix of News footage, interviews, and re-enactments of the rescue by those involved.

It appears to have a rather limited release, but you may be lucky to find it showing locally.

Agree would love to know that too. Incredible story and bravery doesn't even begin to cover these guys.. and gals who helped out on this venture.

Couldn't agree more. An excellent book, a worth addition to any diving library.

Enjoyed watching it. As a cave diver I was surprised to see the dive equipment and configurations used by the rescue divers. Definitely not the DIR setups I am use to seeing in Florida caves.
