Thanks, very useful to other SB members. You expect SB members to follow you to Greece?
Definitely not. Why would I? The Med isn't exactly a dive destination. When it comes to searching for the shipwrecks a spongediver told me about, that will be by invitation only.

This was posted yesterday in another BHB thread Blue Heron Bridge Fishing

I know this has been asked before, but why is someone who has never dived the BHB, perhaps never in Florida, so interested in this topic?
Because it has been an interesting topic of discussion here on SB and OP found a new development.
@scubadada do you have something personal against OP?
I have never dove (dived?) BHB and have no idea where BHB is, but found an entire thread and subsequent follow-up threads interesting…

Well to be fair, I did report my post as a heads up that it could be a shyt show.

I didn't mean that as an invitation for moderators to get that going!

As someone who had dived the bridge a couple hundered times and has been hooked, I think the cameras are an excellent deterrent. Let's hope they help!

I've dived BHB a number of times although I'm not a regular like I used to be when I lived in Palm Beach County. Regardless, I love the idea. They may both serve as a deterrent as well allow the authorities to pull video evidence in the event of an incident. Hope they help!

Wow I don't know what's going on in this thread, it certainly doesn't make me want to return to Florida as a tourist to dive, but maybe that was the intent.

Anyway I thought you might like to know that the camera at the start of the news report, the one on the green pole with a solar panel over it, appears to be a cloud ALPR license plate recognition camera from Flock. It's not watching people. It's recording licence plate numbers. FOIA requests for contracts with Flock from any of the local government agencies should yield information as to which agency owns that camera.

Not doubting your identification of the camera but the article did state
"A Riviera Beach Police spokeswoman said they did not do it and PBSO doesn't know anything about it either. That leaves the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, the Florida Department of Transportation or Florida Fish and Wildlife as likely culprits, but they have not returned our calls."
I don't think the agencies that had not responded would be interested in license plate info ( the DOT would likely only want an average traffic count) so we will wait to see who takes responsibility for mounting them.
One thought did come to mind about the mystery of how they got there is that I would think whoever put them up would have to have some kind of permit to mount them on the poles.
The plot thickens

Security cameras seemingly identical to the ones pictured are fakes and are available at Amazon
