My understanding on this point is that Paul, advises that a cloth in the exhale loop after it has absorbed any lung butter or water, will expand and weigh heavier and will therefore press down on the inhale lung beneath it and affect the WOB.
Ive heard that as well.
However IME it’s not the case. And that cloth is typically damp when I’m finished my normal dives so it’s definitely picking up the moisture

Dewatering the rEvo can be done very simply and effectively if done via the way the original rEvo was made. My unit is old enough to have this and it works just fine.

So Don you have an OPV at the bottom of the case?

Anybody has an opinion on AP Diving? They seems to make pretty simple and easy to customize rebreathers

define a flood -seems people have differant ideas of how much water is a flood - a mouthful of water is easily dealt with.

Talking to guys that had ap before JJ theysay that JJ is like evolved AP. Everything that felt not so good is fixed on JJ. Only bad things about JJ are can head like to take sediment to o-rings if diving in sediment. This only makes that opening can required more strength. Also you need to buy cave shield if you dive in narrow caves/mines. Top of scrubber can tends otherwise easily stuck on ceiling.

I don't understand that more evolved description... AP has a scrubber life monitor, C02 sensor, one of the clearest displays on the market with hall sensors not piezo on the handset. fibre optic hud that wont ever flood like the shearwater. dual controllers in the head. Its own regulators, bov. Custom rubber hose fittings so you can make the hoses exactly the length you want. better flood tolerance and recovery with fmcl and the snorkel on the scrubber.

Apart from all that the best thing is they deal direct to the customer so you don't have to go through a shop or instructor for parts, service kits and the tools to do the service or even a brand new rebreather. I believe the liberty is set up direct to consumer as well.

The JJ is a fantastic bulletproof easy to use unit though. most modern units are fantastic.

Have been diving a Kiss Classic since 14 years ago. Even with a clogged orifice, I do not think that going from 1.3 to under 0.2 would happen in 90 seconds, but waaaaaaaaaaaay more time.
I didn't say I went from 1.3 to hypoxic. I went from normoxic to hypoxic in 90 seconds. There is a difference.

I did that once. Going through the rEvo checklist I had a glitch between opening the DIL and getting to the O2 turn on. Was on the surface and saw the PPO2 dropping, spit out the loop and breathed some air.
Changed my checklist so opening O2 was WAY up on the list. As in open DIL, check ADV, open O2...

I teach my students to turn on the O2 before they ever don their unit. I hope more people adopt that principle.
