Not a fan of Caribe Burger. Cozumel Rum Company on 10 is far better IMHO.
For tacos & burgers or for drinks?

I hate that Caribe Burger is not selling food until 4pm as it was so handy to my cheap hotel. Well, I guess that they have a bathroom now even as much as I hate stairs.

What is the best way to pay in Coz? US cash, bring US cash and convert to pesos...use a credit card like a Visa or?

We are there in Aug for 10 days...
Lots of smaller mom and pop places don't take credit cards. Places that do may well apply a surcharge. The easiest thing I find is to withdraw money from an ATM using my Canadian bank's debit card. Follow DandyDon's instructions above.

That's the old Prima, all right. I loved their lobster linguine in olive oil and mucho ajo. I ate at the location after that atop the building next to the Cozumel Palace. The view was great if you could get that table at the ocean end of the balcony, but I didn't think the food was as good.

Loved Prima. Went to Prima after it moved. Wasn't good at all. La Terrazza opened up in the original Prima location. It was owned by someone from Colorado who was bringing in Colorado beef. Anyhow, according to him he got the, or one of the, original Prima chefs. Menu and food was the same as the original Prima, and just as good. I ate there several times. I loved the gorgonzola shrimp fettuccine. I had it as a special when the place was Prima. It wasn't on the menu, but La Terrazza made if you requested. Steaks were great at La Terrazza also.

For burgers! They have a nice food menu and a huge rum menu. We have been there as early as 3 to play cards with friends. Not sure how much earlier they open. It’s not too far from Hotel Mary Carmen, just a block or so past the Santander Bank on 10. No stairs!

It looks like it's a quarter-mile hike...

  1. Be sure to decline the first offer on conversion rates, a scam easily avoided.

Hmmm...you mean at the same ATM, they will give you multiple conversion offers and the first offer is the worst?

BTW, sorry for any side thread hijacking, I promise I will not bother much more :D

Yup.

Well, some bank ATMs will ask you to accept a rate, which happens to be a lousy one. After declining that, it'll give you a better rate closer to today's trade less the fee. Today's rate on google is 19.99 Pesos to the Dollar. You can see the steps in my experience with photos here...

Yeah, what she said.

La Terraza was one of my gf's faves. We would hit them up at least once every trip, stopping by a few days in advance to request stone crab. It was our splurge night. Meal was about $25-30, not pricy by US standards but more than most MX dinners. It was seldom busy and we remarked a few times that we didn't see how they stayed in business. They shut down pre-covid. Nothing to do with covid.

Is this your first time to the island? You are welcome to start your own thread on this forum asking other questions, and that would be a great title for it - like moths to a porch light. :crafty:

Getting there from the west coast is challenging, but it gets easier once you're there. Helpful hints could help even more.
