Since I am forced to admit (as I often am) that @halocline is once again right, then I can't leave @lexvil with Scubapro's best piston regulator. I just can't.

It would have to be...

Cute, everyone is entitled to be wrong even if they were once right :p

Anyone need a Mk15 original parts kit? LMK. I just dug one up in a box in my workshop.

Wouldn't it be nice to just screw in a hex a half turn?

Yes, if it didn't require a special pipe dope applied to it like the MK25

But have you EVER seen such a regal name for pipe dope?

"Chesterton 900 GoldEnd Paste"

It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? :rofl3:

Oh, wait! You talkin' bout @lexvil ?

I recently bought this mk10 with a BA in japan (for about 120 dollars?). So this is a Mk10 with the SPEC holes but no boot installed right?

Supposedly this came serviced, but when I hooked it up it made an awful whistling sound and had an IP of like 100. Been sitting under my bed since. Is it worth getting a SPEC boot for and servicing? I dive cold water here often and have just been crossing my fingers with my mk9 and BA…

Yep, without seeing the insides it looks like you just need a spec boot (if you want it sealed) and servicing to sort out the "whistle".

Really, the whistle is terrifyingly dangerous, and it should be sent to me for proper disposal! lol

Is it just me or has anyone ever noticed the MK10 is “louder” than other regs? I’ve serviced 3 of these recently with original kits, Triolube, and packed two ambient chambers while leaving one unpacked. Two had MK10+ pistons, one had the regular MK10 piston. All work absolutely fine but the air flow through the 1st stage is distinctly audible (not a whistle, just a “rush” of air on inhalation). I can hear it underwater as well. I compared side by side to my other regs and I can’t hear anything out of other 1st stages even when I put my ear to them on inhalation except for the MK10. I noticed this after servicing the first MK10 so I made sure to lube up the HP oring and piston very well next time but same result. Curious if anyone else has noticed same or if I should go see a psychiatrist?
