Hey there, I have a set of Faber LP72 Tanks and was wondering if anyone had input on what they are worth if i were to sell them. They are smaller in circumference than the typical LP72. AL40 rigging fits them. Just had VIP and Hydro done 12/2020. They have thermo modular valves. All the information is below:

DOT-3AA 3000-87/9015/ 072 M8303FABER ITALY 0387+ (left tank)
DOT-3AA 3000-87/9015/ 028 M8303FABER ITALY 0387+ (right tank)
Hydro: 12/2020
Vis: 12/2020
Circumference: 19”
Height (without Valve): 25.5”

Any thoughts on what i could sell them for? Thanks!

I think? they’re LP50s. Desirability depends on location but they’re kind of in fad, so to speak. $350 if you want to sell them within an hour, up to $475 if you want to wait a week.

I reached out to Faber and gave them the serial numbers on each of the tanks and they told me that they were in fact LP72's. I've seen a couple others like them. -Ben

They are DOT 3AA-3000 tanks. They are not 3AA-2400. They’re not LP50’s. The diameter is larger (6”, not 5.5), though the length is similar. The bigger problem is, they’re heavy: 3AA-3000 is like 30% heavier than 2400 because of the 3AA specs. That’s why HP tanks are SP instead of 3AA — to not be the unbelievable weight of 3AA at 3500 PSI! (I have 3AA-3600 bank bottles, and they’re *way* heavier than my 4500 PSI SP bottles, though slightly smaller in both physical size and gas capacity!)

I can’t find the Faber specs for these tanks. I’d love to know what they weigh... My guess is closer to 30 pounds than 20... Which makes them heavier than LP85 and HP100, but less capacity...

ETA: with Faber’s nominal values below, these work out to be “LP57’s”: at 2640 they would hold just over 57 ft3. They’re about 15% bigger than LP50’s, and it’s all in the diameter. They’re like *exactly* between LP50’s and LP85’s.

But I fear heavier than LP85’s...

Those are likely M71SDVB cylinders.

Grr: this is wrong:
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! I can sleep now! :)

And as I surmised, heavy-ish. Not *quite* the weight of an 85, but close.

The length and diameter are different. It’s shorter and wider. I would assume the OP made a measurement error, but I’ve seen other tanks like he’s describing: they’re virtually the same height as an aluminum 80.

Either way:

Can you tell me where you got that image? I really hope from Blue Steel; but either way, I’ve had a few people ask me to add the medium pressure tanks to my scuba spec but I haven’t been able to because I haven’t been able to find a reference that has all the information I need. Yours does.
