I'm a Fish!
I am in the market for a medium cost canister type dive light with 2000-3500 LM. Does anyone have prior experience and what is you verdict. Also can you recommend some models or where to buy them. Much appreciated T. Goetze

you really need to define some more parameters.

Medium cost is really vague and needs to be nailed down before any recommendations can really be made.
What you're actually doing in terms of diving needs to be sorted as well.

I talked with the guys at Deep6 after the last thread that was posted about these and they said they replaced the batteries with US made packs. For that price, these are worth buying. Frankly the next light up is going to set you back close to $2k and nothing in the middle is worth it.

Looking for something in the 400 to 600 range. Nothing absurd like some hollis or dive rite ones. More asking about good or bad experiences with them or if you'd use one.

well Hollis can lights are absurdly bad, so those would certainly not be anywhere near the top of the list, and Dive Rite's are mediocre.

In the $400-$600 range, that Deep6 light is about as good as it is going to get. For that money I would just use backup lights though unless you really need the extended burn time. Change the batteries on your SIT when boat diving and you'll be fine.

I use an OrcaTorch 611. I’ve not abused it personally but a friend of mine took it through a cave course and said it did just fine. It’s my first can light so admittedly, I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Nanight Tech 2

Have one. I've used it pretty hard, zero complaints.

I have the Nanight C3 lighthead on a bigger battery pack (210Wh IIRC) and my SO uses the Sport 2 as a video and primary light by changing the lens depending on situation.

I like both of the lights, one minor flaw(?) for my use is that the C3 has a bit wider corona that I'd like but the visibility is almost always poor in here. In mines visibility usually is better and the wider corona is nice there.

I think that the Tech 2 and Sport 2 has the same "head" and they are a nice all around lights for most diving environments.

Edit : We've only had them for half a year so i don't have knowledge of long term use

What's the difference between the backmount and the sidemount versions on the deep six?
