Moving away from pins and bands, how is the Teric to use with big rubber cold water gloves? (Seeing how the OP is in Melbourne).

You could drill out the pin holes large enough for 1/8" bungee but I would not.

I have not read of a failure.

Make sure to use Loctite on the barrel. Just got back from Bonaire and noticed my girlfriend's Teric band was just barely hanging on. The nut fell off somewhere. Not sure if it was on a dive or during travel back to the states. That would have been a terrible loss.

Known issue, loctite apparently is water soluble. If you contact Shearwater or Dive-Tronix they can send you replacement Teric watch lugs that have a new threadlocker that supposed to not be water soluble.

I just got back from a 30 dive 22 day dive trip. I am no longer unsure about my preference on the different battery strategies. The Teric wins by a large margin for me. At the end of the day, I plug in my phone and drop the Teric in the cradle. If I forget, it will be fine for a few days. The phone not so much. The Perdix on the other hand is going to require that I start it and check the voltage of the battery and if it needs to be changed I will need to check and possibly lube the o ring and then calibrate the compass when it boots up. I did that perhaps three times while I was there. Teric for the win.

I Have about 6 months and 50 dives on my Perdix with a Saft battery and it's still going strong.
