Don't know the exact number but somewhere in the 50-74 range. DM'd lots of classes locally in 2019 plus a handful Cozumel and Tulum dives. Ready for 2020 and some new possibilities on the horizon!

Have had a ''terrible'' year for diving. I tend either to dive in a local quarry, shore dive west coast Scotland or North Wales. All shore diving. The tide times were not easy first part of the year, followed by terrible weather. I also had a couple of months off health reasons. Only managed around sixty dives.

I had 55 dives logged for this year, I usually combine logs if i have two short dives on the same day so maybe 5-10 more if I wouldn't do that. Mostly rec dives, I'd say 85/15 ratio towards rec and my "tec" dives are barely called tec dives. (40m/130fsw usually around 5-10min deco)
I hope to dive more in next year and to advance my knowledge by course or two.
Didn't have any opportunity to go diving overseas, so all of my dives were done within 200km/125mi from where i live. This years highlight would've been ether the blind exits and blinded lost line exercises done in cavern course or founding (by sheer luck) a almost 100 years old wooden water intake pipe.

Where in Finland are you? my brother and sister in law(she’s Finnish) have bought a hotel in Kotka and are moving out there in the next few months, it’s somewhere I’d like to visit.

I think that i managed to send you a PM, send me one if i didn't succeed :)

My son works for us and if I'm Keen to go diving we pay him his regular wage to accompany me. Poor kid!
Poor kid! Are you interested in adopting me? Please! Pretty please?
On the bright side, had a nice dive today, air 1°C, water 8°C.

52 dives in total in 2019: Mauritius, Oman (a day trip in Muscat), Indonesia (Bali and Komodo), Mexico (Cozumel and PDC/Cenotes on 2 separate trips), Canada (Tobermory), Malta (day trip)

2020 booked: Palau (where I did DSD 4 years ago) & Chuuk, Bonaire & Curacao, Guadalupe (cage dive only)
2020 goal: more dry suit dives in the summer near Toronto; 1 week liveaboard in Bahamas or Maldives during Xmas.
2020 wish: get a teric and atomic T3:p

  • whether you usually dive at home or on vacation
  • predominantly rec or tech
  • as a hobby or professionally
  • how many you are aiming for and how the year's diving turned out for you
  • what your highlight was

I was pretty shocked to see only 18 on the 2019 dive log. After 54 in 2018, that makes me sad. I am a rec diver and only as a hobby. Although my youngest became a dive master this year. He is earning some stripes. Although I doubt that he'll go a long ways with it, I am happy that he is enjoying it for now. But I could be surprised. I don't know what goals I have for 2020. Definitely more dives, with at least one each month. If it makes sense and I can feel good about it, I'd really like to fit in an SDI Solo class. My highlight(s) is a tough call. One of three things: (1) Watching my oldest do a well executed hover as two spotted eagle rays circle him on Elbow Reef. (2) Seeing my wife finally get 100ft (105 actually) on the Spiegel. She's tickled that she has two more feet on her max depth than me. And since none of my family are interested in an arms race, it will likely stay that way for a while. or (3) watching my youngest son seemingly communicate effortlessly with my wife on a night dive after we picked him up from his DM gig. His comfort underwater and his ability to read her and communicate with her was pretty cool for a pops to see. Okay, fine (4) we also saw a tiny little squid on the same night dive. About the most unique thing I have seen yet. The spotted eagle rays a close second.

Edited: 858 minutes total; Average Dive time 47:41; Ave Depth 27ft; Max 102. (hit 103 last year as it related to the wife story above)
