I have one SMB in one of these pockets (you don't even notice it's there, clip off to the butt D-ring and it easily deployable.

I have a second SMB in one of these pouches (fastened to the bottom of the plate with quick links). Same deal for deployment.

Reel clipped to the right hip D-ring.

Dive Rite makes a great mask/utility pocket that holds a proper DSMB and spool. The DSMB (2m long) goes in first and the spool (24m of line) sits on top of the DSMB. The double ender sticks out just right to hook into my right D-ring on the waist.

I use the same pocket on the left for a full size back up mask. I have a small knife on the left waistband made possible by the narrow (but adequate) size of the DR pocket. A lot of other pockets I found were really nice quality but simply too wide and were going to interfere with a clean shot to the D-rings on my waist belt for deco tins.

I will say that the DR pockets are not wide enough to fit a wet notebook so I’m still in the hunt for a clean solution but I’ve definitely solved my DSMB + spool and mask problem.

The pockets are thick mesh and drain quickly unlike my OMS thigh pocket rig I used for 100 or so dives.

Personally I use the Larger Dive Rite pocket, I have two on my waist belt, both secured in place (so they don't slide about) with a D-ring

My LH one has my dSMB and spool, I have a loop of bungee around the reel to discourage it from unwinding and I also clip it to the plastic D-Ring on the side of the pocket

My RH one holds bits'n pieces I may use on the dive (wetnotes and reef hook) I'll stow my gloves in there post dive too

I also have a mesh pocket on my butt for my 12' emergency smb

I find them to be great pockets, and I dislike things dangling from D-Rings (like dsmb)

The only downside, is that it can be a bit of a faff to reach into when slinging an 80(s). However I just unclip the rear of the 80 to allow access (which should be no more than an inconvenience rather than a hassle)

Obviously having pockets is not DIR compliant - which makes me happy too.

Do you use that with a twinset? Did it take a bit to get used to sitting between your bum and the bottom of your twinset tanks? Or do you have it suspended somewhat to where it hangs below your twinset? If so, how do you keep it from bouncing on the back of your thighs?

Amen.

It takes a lot of courage to not give in and just dress like Jarrod.

When diving in a wetsuit with my DIR wing, i use these for storage:
Diver's Holster
I absolutely love them :)

I made my own version using a weight belt and two OMS thigh pockets. Then several of my French dive buddies outsmarted me and bought the IST holster pockets. I’m still used to diving with thigh pockets but I try to avoid it when diving with deco tins.

No.

I use either BM with 15l steel or SM

In both cases I have a Butt plate, and the folded mesh pocket sits on the underside of the butt plate (against my butt - ish)

The large dsmb is tightly rolled and clipped off. There would be no way I'd attempt to inflate it underwater - I have used it at the surface when we've drifted away.

I also, on occasion give it to gobby DM candidates to orally inflate - which is always amusing and humbling for them

Each to their own of course. I do have a pair of Tech shorts for the summer, but never really got on with them

To me they're just another (buoyant) layer and a faff with stuff in the pockets. I keep everything on my rig during the dive weekend, and it seems easier (to me) that way and less chance of me putting stuff down in a random place.
