Hi there,

I’m heading to Philippines to some diving with my own gear. I’m planning on taking:
Backpack: 15kg
Normal looking travel Suit case for dive gear: 12kg

I’m flying from Manila to Coran on Cebu Pacific, My ticket include two pieces of 20kg luggage and I have purchased an extra 12kg of normal extra luggage. Giving me a total of 3 pieces and 32kgs.

Now I know Cebu Pacific does offer specific sports gear baggage for dive gear worth 15kg at a higher price than normal extra bags. This was not offer on my flight due to the aircrafts size (But extra normal bags were, go figure)

Does anyone know if the fact that I am including dive gear in my normal luggage which will be under their weight and piece limit be an issue?

In my mind no but I’m not a low cost airline that charges 15 bucks for a sandwich....

It is confusing, I just go with extra weight like you did. They don't care if you have dive gear in your bags.
I always have a 20KG, and I am good to 20.9. Plus you get 7kg carry on, more if it's camera gear.
Just remember, no regulator in your carry on.

Scratch the dive gear specific allowance and just use the regular weight allowance as @borisphotosafari mentioned. We did that when we flu Cebu Pacific. It was fine. My carry on bag was super heavy (camera gear) and they let me on. :) My dive bag went the normal baggage allowance way and I pre-booked extra as needed.

I mentioned this in my previous posts, if you have camera gear in your carry on, airlines will give you more carry on baggage allowance. All airlines have warnings about not checking in valuables which includes camera gear. My carry on, 2 bags, usually about 26kg.

I flew Cebu Pacific twice in March. There was no exception for camera gear for me. I took regulator in carry on as I have always done for many years. Was only allowed 1 carry on 1 personal item @ 7 kg. each. Just my experience. YMMV

They did try to make me check in one of my camera bags and made me open both of my carry on bags to check if it was camera gear.

Same. I have mine in a photo specific dedicated roller, so once I unzipped it and they saw all the dividers and gear, they let me through. I suppose it looked "serious" and fragile enough. I was very respectful and mentioned it was fragile, electronics, and expensive.

Just flew Cebu Pacific MNL-TAC earlier this week. I purchased 20kg of general baggage but not the sports gear. Checked in online and avoided the counter completely. I had a medium sized backpack and roller bag, each about 10kgs. Never got checked at security or the boarding gate. Its best to pre-purchase the baggage allowance and consider yourself lucky if you dont use it and dont have to wait at baggage claim. From Manila terminal 3, I have found you can sometimes avoid the checkers if you go up to the shopping level from the public area and take the stairs or escalator down towards security.
Never had a problem brining a regulator in my cary-ons either. Its never gotten a 2nd look for flights within the Philippines. It did get my bag searched once before an international departure, but they just opened the bag saw what it was and no issues allowing me to take it.
I think that the sport gear may be necessary only if you have extra large or extra heavy bags that would require additional baggage charges as overweight or oversize. Those add up. Another consideration is lost luggage liability which may exclude sports gear unless purchased. Not a problem if you have comprehensive travel insurance and/or good credit card coverage that will cover what the airline doesnt.
