In order to have onboard gas, is the suit and wing gas also run off of the bm dil?

Yes on wing, No on drysuit. It'll basically be a set of backmounted doubles strapped on to the fathom. Look at the GUE JJ config for a good example.

Are you able to reach your O2 bottle behind those backmounted 50s?
Quite a few people using the "GUE-JJ" can't access their O2 valve

Shocker.

Are you diving it when you come down? I hope you have it dialed in, I wanna check it out. I’m ordering a pair of 50s now, but saw a AL30 yesterday I had never seen before, might be a good choice for wetsuit boat diving.

@rddvet are the 30s you’re using same diameter as a 40 but a lot shorter, ~19” taller without valves?
The only 30s I had ever seen before are slightly skinnier than 40s and a bit shorter, but I like the specs of this “new” 30s

50s would give me twice the gas, but I’m afraid I’d be too heavy in a 3mm suit, maybe with 5.5lb scrubber it would work, argh, so much tweaking to do. But that’s a big plus of the Fathom though, so much freedom to change things around and use different configurations and not have to modify or reengineer anything, I love it!

Yes, the 30s I'm talking about are the diamerter of a 40, but short. The same length as the classic rebreather steel 3L. I had only seen the al30 "deco bottle" previous to this as well.

There's a couple photos. Ignore the weight pouches on the unit. I'm testing it for some saltwater dives coming up

I know. It feels dirty. This is an experiment to avoid weight belts. We’re headed down to Bonaire and intend to dive dry while there. I haven’t been in a wetsuit in years and don’t plan to start now. I’m hoping we don’t even need weight and can ditch the pouches. Should be trying the units out with a single al80 bailout in the next couple weeks.

So you'll probably need a weight belt. I needed two pounds with a wetsuit in the ocean, using single 80s as bailout, SS plate and 6# scrubber. I opted for 4 just to have a little weight.

Here's a trick I picked up from Bob Schulte for adding weight to the Fathom. It sandwiches in between the cylinder mounting brackets and the backplate, so it's fairly clean and hidden. Using the quick link, you can easily remove it for travel.
