I see alot of apeks being sold as din. Would it be advisable since I am mostly diving in the U.S as well as warm water locations to switch the regulator from DIN to Yoke. Is that possible on the apeks XL4 Reg? Or would it be easier not as detrimental to just put on an adapter?

I've bought two Apeks regulators and imported them into the UAE. The key thing is that you are getting a great regulator that can last many, many years. So if you over-pay a little, in the long run, the amount is negligible.
Recommendation: buy two exact Apeks (e.g. two XTX 100s) where one will have a longer hose for your octopus. If you are in a situation when you need to share air, your buddy might be agitated and breathing hard. Therefore, you will want to have a high performing octopus. Again, the cost in the long run is miniscule.

XL4 is avaliable for both DIN and Yoke -sauce: XL4

Buy Din + Din/yoke converter. If you buy a yoke first stage, you cannot convert it to din.

Cheer!

I assumed you are talking about the adapter.
All Apeks 1st stages , not sure about XL4, are readily converted from DIN to yoke or vice versa if you have the correct parts.

To the best of my knowledge, i never come across any regs that do not except DIN/Yoke adaptor... correct me if i am wrong. For example : the page would not advertise the adaptor if the reg itself does not support it Apeks XL4 Regulator

Also, the XL4 first stage look alot like a XTX 50 first stage without the rotating turret (DST)

I am talking about converting ie not using adapter.
The respective parts are:
1. DIN: AP1471(Handwheel connector) and AP1472(Handwheel 300 bar).
2. Yoke: AP1403(Yoke Clamp), AP1407(Yoke connector), AP1400(Yoke Clamp Screw) and AP1404(Protective Cap).

That is because DIN is popular in Europe and the stores you are looking at are in Europe. DIN is also popular with technical divers worldwide. If you have a DIN regulator then you have 3 choices:

1) Use a DIN tank valve. Many dive shops are now using pro-valves that can be used either with DIN or Yoke (A-Clamp).

2) Use a DIN-to-Yoke adapter. You screw the reg into the adapter and clamp it on a tank. The advantage is it is cheap, usually $30-$40. The disadvantage is that it puts the regulator closer to your head, so it increases your chances of hitting your head on the regulator when looking up.

3) Convert the regulator to Yoke. I would purchase the parts from the vendor and have him install it and send you the DIN parts.
