I own 2 Perdix. Not unhappy. If I had any indication the Teric was coming, I would not have purchased the second Perdix. Now that I have it, I MAY sell one and buy a Teric, but probably not.

Want to buy my second Perdix?

Cheers -

Hi Coconut Monkey,

Here is my elevator speech for Shearwater products:
  1. Best initial reliability for any dive computer on the market--bar none--the stats are not even close.
  2. The owners of Shearwater Research require that their service facilities turn-around a warranty or service issue in five days. Dive-Tronics reported this and the principles of SW told me that in a personal conversation.
  3. Their computers are user friendly--they have prompts to help you through the process that you are setting. Their system is intuitive.
  4. Their Perdix AI and Teric can be used in Rec mode or Tec mode; with two completely different manuals for each mode. No confusion.
  5. Battery switches are easy with the Perdix. You can use a "Copper Top", or locally available lithium batteries (both are recommended--50 hours and 75 hours run time, respectively). You can use rechargeable AA batteries. I currently have a lithium battery in my Perdix AI. Saft batteries give the longest performance at 100 hours. During my upcoming trip to Curacao, I will be logging the daily voltage values for the battery and reporting to Scubaboard upon my return. I witnessed Shearwater principles charging Terics on a cell phone charger at lunch. They then handed them out for demo dives after that. Seemed easy to me.
  6. The screens are amazingly clear and easy to read. I could read Lynn's Teric from 5 feet away and the Perdix AI from 8 feet away. I need my reading glass insert in my mask to read my other computers--not with the Shearwater products.
  7. The warranty runs with the computer, not the purchaser.
  8. Software updates are user friendly and online--no service center visit for an update.
I chose the Perdix AI. I like a dedicated dive computer verses a multi use watch. YMMV.

Either way, Perdix or Teric, you won't be let down. Bruce and Lynn stand by all their products--you will be treated well!

Resale is easy with a Shearwater product.

Happy with my Perdix,
markm

Actually, just one manual for the Teric, that covers everything.

You must plan on really long elevator rides...

I slap my Teric on my same Qi charger that I use for my cell phone, typically the time it takes for me to get ready for a post dive dinner is enough of a charge to get it back to 100%.

Thank you and i will keep that in my mind. Based on my finding there is a adapter to convert Teric's silicon strap into bungee strap. Also Nato Strap could be fitted into Teric too. However, i am just doubting whether the Teric bungee strap would be very reliable since it is hallow bungee. Some people also mentioned that the Nato strap is not comfortable.

I have a NATO strap on my Teric and I love it (both the strap and the Teric itself). Very comfortable. But, like all straps, it depends on the material. Stiff nylon will not feel nearly as comfortable as soft nylon.

OP, do you want a watch-style computer or not? That was the deciding factor for me. I don't wear my Teric as a watch when diving locally, but when vacation diving I love having it.

I currently have a Perdix AI and really like it. Bought Mrs Flush the Teric last Fall. I like the Teric better overall for our type of diving but I have been resolute that I would not get myself a Teric until my Perdix wore out.
Knowing shearwater's track record that should be a long time, so I was sad. Now it appears that my sister wants a Perdix in lieu of Teric and boy do I have a deal that she is not going to be able to refuse.

Have her get in touch with me. I might be able to beat your deal! :rofl3:

I have a Perdix AI. Then I got a Teric (so have both). I like the Teric so much I got a 2nd Teric and am selling my Perdix to a friend.

I use a NATO strap with my Terics and don't have any issues with discomfort in my wetsuit or drysuit.

I actually have 2 NATO straps for each Teric. A shorter one to fit over a wetsuit and a long one to fit over a drysuit. The NATO straps are SO easy to remove (and have to be removed from at least one side, anyway, to charge) that if I were worried about the strap holding salt water and causing corrosion, I would just take the strap off between dive trips. However, I am not worried about that. I soak my Terics, including the straps in fresh water after diving in salt water anyway. I don't want salt to get into the buttons and cause problems down the road.

When you read other people's opinions on Teric vs Perdix, one thing you might consider is whether the person expressing a preference has actually dived both of them. I think there are a fair number of people who express a preference for "the bigger screen", but haven't actually tried "the smaller screen" in the water. I also think there are a fair number of people who have found that, in the water, the Teric screen is very comparable in readability to the Perdix screen, even though the Perdix screen is physically larger.
