Hi everyone,

I am looking for a new dive computer as the previous one lost. I am currently looking between 2 computers: Perdix and Teric.

Some consideration factors:

  • Need to be a wise long term investment.
  • Rugged
  • Reliable - Not dying between dives (batteries)
  • Easy to fix
  • Focus mainly on warm-water diving.
  • Want to Go Pro in the near future ( Can't go right now, still underage)
Some personal backgrounds:
  • Seasonal diver
  • My previous dive computer was Suuuto D6i Novo so i am quite comfy with the small screen but when i look at Suuuto Zoop, it just blows my mind that the display is so large which in my mind would be very useful when going into wrecks, i love wreck diving.
  • I have done some researches and it seem like Perdix has always been regarded as one of the most recommended Tec and OC dive computer worldwide.
  • Single and sidemount setup.

Thank you very much.

FYI there was a similar question here: Dive computer recommendation

SW certainly tick the boxes although it remains to be seen how the Teric's bezel holds up to punishment but on another chat there was a pic of a reasonably beaten up one.
Sidemount mode I believe is coming, but don't know its ETA.
Don't forget to get your GST back when your depart OZ with it.

EDIT: p.s. most people will tell you what they've got is best. (including me!). Teric all the way!

Shearwaters are the benchmark. Save your money and buy a used air/ni computer and put the money towards more diving. If budget isn't a consideration the Teric looks bitchen for travel (I don't own that model)

The display on the Teric is gorgeous. OTOH, it does have to be charged. The Perdix with Saft batteries can go for weeks or months without concern and if for some reason it does die, you can make do with a standard AA until the UPS driver arrives.

I like the second strap on the Perdix. If one breaks, it's not falling to possible oblivion.

Since Teric's battery is recharged battery (like a phone). So in long term, i may have to change its battery due to discharge...

Thank you for for reply. However, there is another user pointed out the accuracy of the time on the Teric, i know it is not directly related to diving but if there is an inaccuracy then there might be more problems. Waiting to be be addressed by the manufacturer themselves.

My Teric loses about 1s per day. That seems to be within the specs of 1 minute/month, but never the less, it is irritating. Several of my older computers are much better than that.

Thank you and i will keep that in my mind. Based on my finding there is a adapter to convert Teric's silicon strap into bungee strap. Also Nato Strap could be fitted into Teric too. However, i am just doubting whether the Teric bungee strap would be very reliable since it is hallow bungee. Some people also mentioned that the Nato strap is not comfortable.
