He has them on the shelf. They come with a standard LPI nipple on the input side. I don't know if it's got a filter, didn't ask and haven't disassembled mine.

Yea I'm taking that nipple off, its a terrible connection for O2. And adding a downstream shutoff.
Have not gotten an answer about whether there's an inlet filter from Charlie or anyone else.

I'd be interested in better understanding your want to change the nipple? All I can come up with is either you want a higher flow or you don't like the restriction a nipple may place in the flow path, but just guesses here. What are you moving to, a QC6 type connection or direct hose attachment?

And are you pro-filter and why?

Neither, not concerned about flow rates at all. Basically I don't need to disconnect the MAV/needle from the reg, and having it come undone in the water is bad. Direct connection of an LP hose from the reg to the valve - which is what I have now is perfectly fine.

I am a pro filter guy, because salty water and a crystal of deposited gunk in small holes with high velocity O2 around is not good. I think of them as cheap insurance. The fact that a filter converts a 3/8" female to a 9/16" LP male is an added bonus, I would need to convert it anyway so I might as well use a filter over a blank adapter.

Thanks for the nice lesson. Very informative, and things I'd never have thought of.

I've got a custom 3 button needle valve from Chris Kennedy on my sidekick. Dil / Oxy / Offboard -> Common gas out. It's nice. No complaints. stuck it in the mud - still works. I'm happy.

They are all just boxes with the same stuff inside - use whatever you want.

My needle valve shows up Monday, so I was diving my normal kiss mav yesterday. The ppO2 still kept creeping up on me at rest. I had to turn down the IP even more; to about 110 psi on my IP gauge. I dont understand why kiss even bothers with a 0.0035" orifice, they should be just supplying these things with 0.0030" in the first place.

The needle valve (from Charlie) is fun, but I sure end up fiddling with it a lot. Once I add a scooter and a bunch of saw-toothing it gets really fiddly. I may end up blocking the first stage after all. I only have so many hands. I'll give the dynamic IP a few more dives to settle into my brain. I do wish the needle was finer, its only ~2/3rds of a turn from high to low.
