A couple of people (non divers)in my group next week want a vehicle at their disposal for a little freedom. It may get driven 3 or 4 times while we're there, and they don't want anything new or nice, so they don't want to spend a ton of money. A cheap beater is highly preferred. 4 door preferable.

I would go with one of the standard rental companies. Most of the ones discussed here are focused on divers so are all about 4 door, 5 speed trucks. I believe Avis has a franchise there.

I have the diver's trucks rented through Avis, who I'd rather not use, but they were free. I've used PB and Stuyvesent in the past with no complaints. This is a last minute deal though, and they just want a beater.

We are actually looking into the same thing. We are staying at buddy dive and their truck with CDW Plus Insurance is $549.50 for the week. This seems really high?

Telerin has always had good prices. I'm sure Poppy at Telerin likes to believe all her vehicles are in good shape, but most that we have rented have been, er, well used. You get what you pay for.

Hmmm, good point.

This is the Matrix from Buddy Dive...

My question to her was-

So, if someone breaks into our car we are still liable for $565?

She said she needed to get back to me on that one.

You can do a truck from AB for about 400 with zero deductible. That's likely the route we're going
