Doesn't have that MB thing.
It's still a proprietary implementation of "RBGM", running on a cheap computer which probably doesn't even have the computing power to run the actual algorithm.

Yeah, agreed. But he wants cheap and console. Mares would be #3 on my list of don't get.

I said I don't want to spend a lot, I dont necessarily want cheap. I want to spend what it takes to have something reliable, and don't need a lot of bells and whistles, or paying for a name.

I was seriously considering the scubapro alladin one
You really do need to decide if you want a console or not.

Go with the Ocean Veo 4.0 I put the link to earlier.

Any brands I should stay away from?

Thank you
I have been diving a Suunto Cobra 1 for about 25 years and it has never failed, locked me out, or cut any dive short.

MARES Puck Pro (for a console) is about as cheap as they come; on sale now as a discontinued model.
Exactly what I just did. Mares Puck Pro +. Amazon has them.

I found the wired, USB connector on EBay for $15 and it successfully connects the Puck Pro + to SubSurface on my Mac.

All for less than $200.

I'm pretty well set on a console.
Here is the least expensive console at Divers-Supply. Buy Cressi Leonardo Computer 2-Gauge Console Online | Divers Supply
It is a single-button computers, which some folks don't like.
Their least-cost two-button console is from SEAC: Buy Seac Screen Dive Computer Console + Spg Online | Divers Supply
If you want to download, you'd need to decide between bluetooth and wired.
Pay more, you get a color screen.
Pay more you can get a rechargeable battery. Otherwise, some allow you to change the battery yourself, others want you to go to a dealer for a new battery.
These are all decisions you need to make.
