no gluing required for that combo seal, but the neck seal would only be redundant to the face seal. if you tear that at the neck, you still would have to replace the whole seal.

Sure. The only thing I would be really sad about is swapping out my silicone neck seal I'm currently using for a latex neck seal. I really like the silicone!

Hi!

I recently switched to an OTS Guardian mask, and found that I couldn't get a the mask to seal properly while wearing my hood. The hood kept getting under the mask seal. Trimming my hood back might be an option? My instructor also suggested using a rubber hood that the mask would seal over. My drysuit (White's Enviro Com) does have an option to use a rubber hood, but I don't have one installed.

What works for you?

Ted

We have no issues getting our Guardian FFM to seal over our hood up hear. It is not sealing over the entire edge of the hood. The hood around our chin is pulled back and the FFM seals to our face. The rest of the FFM fits over the hood. I have yet to trim back my hood. What learned about the Guardian is the really cinch it down with the two bottom straps, fairly tight with the side straps and barely even snug on the top strap. Tightening the top one gave me jaw fatigue and didn't always allow the FFM to seal around my chin.

Very interesting! Thanks for the great tips. I'll see if I can play around with it a bit more and try some of these ideas.

What works for you? Here's one option I found:

Seasoft Pro/C6 6mm Dry Suit Hood for Full Face Mask (FFM)

FWIW, water temp here I dive in is usually between the 40's and 60's, so thermal protection is important.

Latex hood with a beanie underneath. Works great for us and it gets damn icy where we are. They sell the ones that fasten with a chin strap underneath. Not too thick and oh so warm

Thanks, this is the option I'm going to try next!

I'll add my experience with a combination latex hood\seal. I used to install it in the sitech system but I had troubles with it pulling out during the dive and flooding the suit. I now just wear it like a normal hood with a silicone neck seal. I've had issues with it sealing around my face and have bought but not dived a full facemask for it.

That's odd. Never heard of a seal pulling out. Don't like the sound of that. Do you think it was defective?

I don't think so. The thickness is the same as a late neck seal but since it was attached to my head, when I looked up it pulled out.

I figured that it depends on how long your neck is and where the hood flange is placed in the ring. For me the hood was too short.

Another benefit of having a separate hood is that I found it easier to get off and on, compared to when it was on the suit.

I have the sea soft 6mm you referenced and it works great with my AGA.
