Russian proverb, "Доверяй, но проверяй" {Doveryai, no proveryai} (trust, but verify)

Do you both have the Perdix? Do you use two different colored transmitters (one black, one yellow) between the two of you? The manual says that two of the same transmitters in the same proximity can cause problems.
Mine is on my Reg set hers is on her Reg set. The only issue is perhaps once or twice per dive I get a lost all comms error message which is cleared by touching the right button. I suspect this is interference when both transmitters pulse their data at the same time.

It blows me away how I can ask dive computer advice and get parenting advice to give to my dive buddy. Even when @rsingler does a very eloquent job of why it's perfectly normal to want to check a daughter's air without being invasive, it's still a point of contention. And yet, no one goes after @RayfromTX for checking his wife's air supply (and maybe vice versa). What??? Doesn't he "trust" her to tell him her air level??? [I tried to find sarcastic font, but didn't really care].

Who gave you parenting advice? I just read the thread again, looks like everybody is just talking about scuba diving to me....

I do think that this is a teaching opportunity for the dad, however.

Really? You don't think of these quotes as examples of parenting advice in this thread?

Really. They are about diving, not parenting.

I take it this wasn't what you were looking for when you posted?

I have dove the ScubaPro Luna and M2 and love both. I am 90% sure that the M2 doesn't have the ability to monitor a buddy's air. It does have the ability to monitor different tanks but it is assumed that this is for you, for gas switching. I think that doing it with a buddy would cause problems. The Luna does have the ability to pair with two different transmitters with the 2nd one explicitly understood as a buddy. I've done it and it works great. What others are saying about distance is true, though, it isn't going to do much if you're far away but it does tend to recover so if you separate for a bit then come back together, it tends to pick the signal back up.

With that said, this should not replace individual responsibility. If your buddy doesn't trust the kid, I'd say they don't go diving. (I am an instructor and have 3 daughters that are old enough to dive...one of them is not certified yet because I don't trust her at this level yet.) If they dive together much, the parent should also be able to get a pretty good gauge for how close the kid is to their air consumption. Divemasters do this all the time with pretty darn good accuracy.

I thought the title of the post was self evident. I am looking for a dive computer to monitor air supply for two divers. You're the one that came in with the daddy teaching moment. You don't see that as parenting advice?

So, why did you monitor your buddy's air with the Luna?

Hey y'all. don't play the game. Post on the topic and keep it friendly and the thread will stay helpful and interesting. Just ignore those that show up to try to hook a response. For instance, there is absolutely no reason to engage in a discussion about why I would prefer to check my buddy's pressure without interruption or communication. It will only drag us off topic again. The thread should never devolve into these arguments about parenting or what have you. It's a trap. no need to take the bait. We can control these threads without need for a moderator to step in after it becomes a cage match. Just watch the posters that respond to these bait posts with posts that are totally helpful and on topic. They rock.
