In a thread (First Reg Set) too far removed in title from the intent of this thread, some of the Usual Suspects were discussing an alternative to the proprietary jam nut found on the G250 and similar second stages. I suggested that a standard 316 stainless steel nut with the same thread pitch (9/16-18) might work. However, I purchased one from the Helpful Hardware Man and I'm sorry to report that while the threads are correct and the nut threads onto the airbarrel--- ALMOST. The problem is with the exhaust tee on the second stage body. The nut is too large to fit under the tee for the final few turns. Too bad because McMaster has them for about a buck each.

Unless one of you sharpies can come up with an alternative, I'll be sticking with my SP jam nut.

Washer or two
Yes, that would work, and using a thinner nut (also available at McMaster) would allow threading the hose on the normal distance. However, a nut & washers just doesn't "seem" right.

Thanks for the effort.

Yes, we are getting estimates so we can talk you down in price. :nyah:
