But then find it during the dive! :yeahbaby:

Somehow my SMB unclipped from my butt dring when I rolled off. I'm thinking about adding a sleeve instead. Aside from preventing it from unclipping it's a little annoying having your SMB chasing your tail throughout a dive.

Viz was bad though, ended up losing a shaft.

What have you lost and you thought for sure you'd never find only to be surprised when you do?

I think I am about at net zero for fishing lures at this point, and up a couple of rods and reels.

I'm still missing a Hog Classic 2nd stage that came loose from its hose one of the first times I tried to dive a stage. I keep watching for it. I found some weight pouches that another diver had asked me to be on the lookout for, for over a year, so I haven't given up.

Give a little, take a little, I suppose. That sucks about the 2nd stage. Stings a lot more than a $30 shaft or $40 SMB. I hope you find it.

So far I'm doing pretty good. I've ditched weights once and lost a few shafts and donated one stringer to sharks while lost a sea, but otherwise I haven't lost a whole lot of gear.

I've lost a fin twice --once in current and once in very low viz. Found them both (the low viz one I decided just to snorkel and amazingly just ran into it). I've lost weight pockets 3 times and found them twice. Can't explain why they fell out, as I know they were buckled properly. Just this summer I seemed to have lost my 6 year old $25 dive watch. Still hope it turns up but I fear it's on somebody's wrist after they picked it up at a dive site around the NY area. Years ago I lost a knife out if it's holster in CT. Guy in the NY shop said it's probably in someone's chest (I thought for a minute he meant ice chest....).

One of my fins unsnapped and came off after a giant stride in 100 ft off Jax, after I signaled OK. It was mostly spearos on the boat and we had been hot dropped in small groups. I didn't see it in the waves and thought I was done for the day. My Insta buddies had already descended, so I signaled the boat to come back. My fin was already waiting for me on the boat... One of the other divers had seen it and handed it aboard. Yay positive buoyancy

Bull SHark Viz ;)

I once lost ALL of my gear in 1977. A set of double 72's, mask, fins, weights, regulators, knife, etc. etc. Everything! It all ran off with an ex-girlfriend.

Well, perhaps it's a good thing you lost her. Could always be worse, Right? That's pretty bad though.

You aren't gonna believe this one :fear: the parts of my primary Reg! Years ago now. It started breathing weird. I switched to my Occy and the face plate was missing! We finished the dive on my occy. It was a familiar shore dive, shallow and close to shore. A couple weeks later we were doing the same dive and I found the pieces of my Reg. They went into the spares box. BTW we never allowed that tech to service our gear again after that episode. Turned out he didn't reassemble it properly!

We never did recover hubby's presecription mask even with an immediate search using the spare one. Another shore dive... we left information about a reward if found at the nearby dive shop.. no luck
