Left my G250s hooked up to a tank pressurized then tank turned off and after about an hour I went to purge but there was no air.

Put the regs in a bucket and one of them was leaking. Wound in the adjuster, still leaking.

Took barrel out and could see bubbles coming out of the valve.

Seat looked marginal so swapped it, still leaking.

Swapped poppet, still leaking.

Swapped balance chamber, still leaking.

Looked at orifice with a loupe, no problem.

Looked at orifice O ring with a loupe and could see fluff on it. Removed O ring, cleaned and re lubed. All good.

Process of elimination, thanks Bob and Couv from a previous thread.

Lesson learnt, be careful when assembling, ensure "work station" and hands are clean. Don't service regs on your living room floor.

I would never have thought tiny pieces of fluff would cause a leak. But of course in hindsight it's quite obvious.

I'll take more care in the future.

I know this may be obvious to many but is perhaps helpful for the budding DIYers out there, myself included. Had me stumped for a while. Simple mistake, simple solution. Cheers.

What is fluff?, pocket lint?

I had a persistent slight IP creep on a MK10 after rebuild once, couldn't figure out what the problem was.....turned out to be a dog hair on the seat. Damn aussies....

You obviously do not have cats. We have a bunch (3) of long hair mutts. I can fill our dust buster full of cat hair on a daily basis.

I have learned to double check everything (including my cooking ingredients) to ensure there are no cat hairs present.
Oh man, my cats have been responsible for more unexplained issues than I will ever admit.

Well done.

Well done.

Thanks. Yes, I resisted my usual instinct which is to blindly take it apart, replace parts left right and center and end up having no idea what was or how I solved the problem or worse still end up with the same problem and then spend countless hours chasing my tail. I'm learning.
