Are these still being produced? Where/from who does one purchase one?

Can anyone who dives with one share their experience and opinion of them?

Thanks

@Eric Sedletzky on the board here makes em when he's willing and able. AFAIK, there has not been a production run in quite a while.

I absolutely love mine, but my wife does not, and prefers a standard plate. its a bit heavy for skin warm fresh water, but is perfect for skin warm salt water or mild (3~5mm) fresh water. extremely stable and simple platform for single tank diving.

Any chance you would be willing to sell me your wife's plate?

sorry to get your hopes up :( wife didn't get a plate, she tried mine and just did not like it.

wouldn't hurt to put a wanted post over in the trading area though!

I don't know if it is possible to get a used one. Nobody would want to give it up. Eric formed the plate to fit the curvature of your back, not just a flat plate like other backplates. The edges are curved so there is no chance of cutting your wing or suit. The tank is held close and secure so that there is very little movement. Jacket BCs allow tanks to swing and drop low when you're out of the water. With a Freedom Plate I can walk up and down trails to dive sites easily. Besides, with the polished stainless finish they look cool. What more could you ask for?

A 3D scan that we could 3D-print? -- Although I've no idea if filaments are strong enough for something like that... Nylon's apparently good enough for structural parts and "dynamic loads" so it might be doable.

Yeah well, you can't have everything, can you.
