So I think there is a new scubaboard record. Ithe has been 8 hours since I logged in and there were 76 posts in this thread. This thread has been one very interesting rollercoaster so far.

Mods please have a glass of your favorite beverage tonight for working this thread.

Yes Shawn, once again it must have been someone else???? The more you cerich continue to provide misinformation to inflame only brings you both closer to a liable suit. I cant expect you to remember the facts if can remember your name is Shawn... Mark Flory laid it out; all opinions no facts..
What do do believe are the facts regarding the Chinese tanks?

Can you point to what you feel I posted is misinformation? I tried to be pretty good on posting and citing sources.I believe there is enough public information for readers to draw their own conclusions.

It's sad that you have to resort to threats because you don't like the way the conversation is going. By the way, LIBEL requires an untruth to be published. It's absolutely true that Sotis's partner alleges in court filings, it's true he is a convicted felon as well.

I think his gibberish is directed towards me and not you. It's gibberish in any event. It seems that (A) he's wanked up over whatever claims the plaintiff has made someplace in the shooting "tacti-cool-nutcase" world (which I don't get) and that (B) he thinks I'm the plaintiff.

I've no clue about (and don't care except to laugh at the immaturity associated with the entire scene regarding) A, and to think that B is true is just plain silly.

It's just... Odd. Especially since he's spouting "hoo-rah! Honor!" BS when it's a convicted criminal he's on the side of, who has been linked in a sworn statement made by his partners attorney that he was selling arms control list items to the ENEMY that's been shooting at us, after being warned not to do so, based on his buddy having gone to the DHS and getting an opinion that the transaction was illegal. That statement which has been furnished to the court by his attorney is again not something that an attorney would sign his name to and submit to the court without the ability to back it up with documentation. It's so easy to prove (or disprove) with corroborating statements from DHS, Customs, etc., that anyone would be stupid (and at risk of arousing the ire of the court) to make it up.

It's... just strange to see the pseudo-patriotic "hoo-rah" on one side and the lack of outrage for trading with the enemy on the other.

I do apologize for saying that I thought that Jason (Ocean Edge) had sold composite cylinders for rEvos. I remember him selling some non-original accessories for them way back when. (maybe Cooper Hoses?). Sorry Jason. No foul intended. Beer on me next time I manage to come north to your area. I hate snow so it'll be a while.

.

Bullseye Self Storage & Pistol-Range. Charming. Store your old sofa, it's a blast! ;-)

Let's see: He teaches the "Carry and Conceal Defense lifestyle". Holy cow It's a lifestyle! In my day guys who needed to stand on tip-toe in the gents just wore a big watch. Now apparently they live the "Carry and Conceal Lifestyle"...

>insert Mae West voice here<

"Are you happy to see me, big-boy, or are you just living the carry and conceal lifestyle?"

>exit Mae West mode here<

Personally, I'd prefer the "golf-course living lifestyle" or the "yachting lifestyle" or even the "drinking a lot while listening to jimmy buffet lifestyle". How friggin stupid.

Noting that it would be a "Concealed" and not "Conceal" using standard grammar. His composition skills seem more or less to mirror Rick's 3rd grade level achievements.

Another nutcase. No wonder Sotis was able to con him. Nobody teaching "Fat-Jack the Florida Walmart-Defender" at the local pistol range would put up a resume like that on the net.

The facts we have learned for this valuable thread:
• AH Carbon Fiber Wrapped CCR cylinders are not DOT certified ( as actual advertised )
•AH Carbon Fiber Wrapped CCR cylinder may not be CE certified.
• AH Carbon Fiber Wrapped cylinders are legal to own in the USA regardless of either of these certifications
• It's legal to fill these cylinders yourself
•It's legal for a dive shop to fill these cylinders
•it's legal to personally dive with these cylinders
• it's legal to personally transport these in your vehicle
•it's legal to transport and dive these cylinders on your own personal boat
• it's NOT legal to transport or use these cylinders on a commercial boat like Franks, but Frank doesn't care because of the tanks standing safety record and Franks not a douchbag.
The take away, Don't dive with Douchbags and you'll be fine. Shawn is guilty of Stolen Valor and you both are seen for what you are.

Have a good one fellas!

^^

Except for the troubling fact about forging fake CE stickers and selling cylinders that a professional engineer designing this stuff would not dive for safety reasons. There's a reason.

I find humor in everything and here's my smile of the morning. It's notable that your composition and spelling skills have advanced from third-grade neo-illiteracy to polished and bullet-pointed perfection overnight. Ghost writers must be inexpensive to hire these days.

@Rick Sanders

We've also learned that Technical diver, who get bent out of shape over small things which they consider additional failure points, are happy to dive items not approved by the manufacturer (or have no approval) in an environment that can quickly reduce their structural integrity and have no way of testing for this.

Really really smart. When (not if) one explodes on a fill, I hope its the owner of the cylinder that gets maimed or worse, and not some unsuspecting shop person employed to fill proper cylinder

^ This.

Guys waste hours arguing about who has one O Ring less than the other to reduce failure points and then wears a cylinder on his back that can be impacted by overhead items and that can fail from external damage?

Idiocy.

Like so many rebreather things, people add "stupidity" as bolt-on accessories in order to impress others. It's more like chrome on a motorcycle than anything else. They buy expensive "stuff" that's "different than the others" in order to have it, and then make up the reason second. The problem is that they convince themselves that it's actually true. And then defending that decision becomes like a religion and no rational discussion will change it.

So if you have spent $1200 on two of them I guess it's important to defend your decision rather than admit you were robbed by a criminal for your money. At least he didn't use a gun. This time.

I did a little calling to friends and found out some interesting stuff. The normal use of these cylinders (without fake CE) is for oxygen for high altitude mountaineering. There are literally thousands of them discarded on Mount Everest. Ounces count there. And the cylinders ex-China are so cheap as to be disposable. According to mountaineering friends they are selling for about $50/each ex-China straight to Nepal. They are throw-away items made in a size that's not used for anything else. Certainly they are not what's designed for hard long use in salt water.

Good money selling them for $600. Worth buying in China, shipping to Sweden, faking the CE there, then re-shipping to the USA. Enough profit for everyone. 10X markup. Good business if you do not care about the customers.

I take it back. They are $20/each in China.

Better than smuggling opium: Buy $20, sell $600, and no prison if you are caught.
