Meh. Hate the attitude, not the fish.

the rare Wolf Fish sighting (I've seen 3 in 10 years in NS) can scare the sh!t out of you if you come upon it unexpectedly (which of course is the only way you come upon it here). What a gargoyle.
NS, Canada? I guess you're thinking of the Anarhichas species then?

The ones we see on this side of the pond (usually the Atlantic wolffish, Anarhichas lupus) are actually rather nice. Like dogs, the smaller specimens can be a bit aggressive, but the large ones are really docile and don't mind being petted.

Stick a pole spear into it, and it'll change its behavior rather dramatically, though... :D

The Mexican Tetras at Balmorhea in Texas were a bit vicious. Several bites per dive and one even got me hard enough to draw blood on my ear. My wife and I were both taken off guard when they started biting us.

Storker, No that's not it. I'm not great with fish names but this thing is brown with a lot of ragged fins and a real ugly face.

Hm. Would you mind checking the Latin name? I got curious, and the one I linked to is what we over here know as wolffish.

If wouldn't be the one we know as the monkfish?

I like em all-----the more the better.......

No, not the monkfish. I googled Wolfish and that's not it either. Don't know any of the latin names. First time I saw one I thought it was a 2 foot long piece of Kelp.

OK I googled ugly NS fish photos and am almost certain it is the Atlantic Sea Raven.
