In response to the above, yes it is "possible" to see tigers, bulls and blacktips...tigers are more and more regular in shallow water recently.

But I wouldn't plan a trip here for that. The sightings are generally brief and definitely not "guaranteed" like the threshers pretty much are at the moment.

Thanks:-) We already had awesome dives with Tiger Sharks at Fuvahmulah.
But the chance of oceanic black tip and tigers (even if brief) along with seeing the threshers and everything else again makes me consider our return … after Dauin and Tubbataha and South Leyte….

Glad to hear you had a great time on Mermaid, and that Celso is still with them. I dove with him on that same trip in 2012, and then in Raja Ampat twice with him on Mermaid. I would not hesitate to dive with them again.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but @jjmochi (and others) I was wondering what you thought about pros/cons of bringing drysuit on this trip? I'm planning on doing the same Bali-Komodo-Bali 9-night trip on Mermaid I in June 2026.

Normally I only dive drysuit - very used to it and I'm more comfortable - but had been planning to break out the wetsuit for the liveaboard because it seemed like it might be easier.
Was the drysuit more hassle for the staff to deal with? Would you stay in it for some surface intervals, or were you donning/doffing 4 times a day? What would one do with undergarments that get wet/sweaty?

Thanks

Drysuit is an overkill for warm water diving. I was on similar trip last August 2024. Here’s my trip report, Trip Report - Bali-Komodo-Bali 12-21 August 2024

The coldest water temperature there was 26C, as shown in Table 1, below.
