You want to run your other hose.. the back up reg under your arm as well. Also, i would tie the bolt snap onto the hose about 4-8 inches from the console.. with zero leash on it. the snap is tied right to the hose tightly.

If you use that same string and tie a constrictor knot it will hold tightly.

I misunderstood your description the first time around. So tie the bolt snap 4-8 inches down the hose from the console. I thought you meant put it on a 4-8 inch leash which I didn't like the idea of.
 
any reason for this? I run it over the shoulder with a short hose (can't rem exact measurement right now.. 22" maybe)

He's referring to my situation in specific. See how my hoses cross each other encircling my arm? Not a good setup. I quickly found out that I had to tuck both hoses under my arm, at least until I get a 22" hose for the backup.

yeah just have to figure out the optimal location on the hose so that when worn on her BC - she can grab it and look at it without unclipping, but as little of the gage console hanging as possible. Gotta balance visibility versus a floppy console getting caught on stuff.
