HELP FROM MY TROLL FRIENDS

After 6 months off due to knee surgery, I am back to diving! Maribi and I want to hit the morning tide tomorrow.

Could any of our troll friends pm me about where to find the frogfish? We always seem to miss these and they are our very favorite thing at the bridge. Also, if there are any seahorse sightings we would appreciate that as well.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Guy

Nice set of photos. The latest REEF Fish ID book indicates that it is difficult to identify specific species in the Hairy Blenny Complex and recommends identifying them as Labrisomus spp. Based on input from others, what we have at the bridge is likely a Masquerader Blenny, L. conditus. Feedback on my REEF surveys and photos puts all of them in simply the Hairy Blenny Complex.

Here is one I shot at the bridge last year: TWA Fish - Goby-Blenny - WetLens

That's a *lot* of blennies - and gobies. :D I'm sure that you must be in contact with Ben Victor. . .

That is a collection point of all TWA goby/blenny/jawfish photos I've taken (well, saved) since switching to digital. And, yes, I've used Ben for ID help many times. He was able to use a few of my goby photos in a publication that introduced several new species (http://www.oceansciencefoundation.org/josf/josf12d.pdf).

Guy, nice meeting you. Glad you found the frogfish. Next time please join us for lunch. We had a great time at PA BBQ. I usually have current intel. Just let me know when you are diving again.

Yesterday 84 degree water and 30 ft of viz at first--lots of students. Go early for best parking! Early being 3 hours before hi tide. I saw a big Eagle Ray and a juvenile Green Turtle. Viz at the end of the dive was still 20 south off the beach. Others said they saw a hatchling turtle in the sargassum by the beach and dolphins on the west side of the channel...............

Played with macro the past few times there. Shot the nudibranch with my little camera through a jewelers loupe.
