What is the chance of getting some big tanks up there?

Some random thoughts - day 2 waking up after that hike...
Sore in the Glutius Maximus (walking up and down hill I assume) and some shoulder soreness... So even though we only had about 25 lbs of weight on each of us it was not evenly distributed like a real backpack would be. I have carried up to 45 or 50 lbs in a backpack on the Appalachian Trail - but Scuba gear does not pack nicely and we were truly down to the bone - tanks, masks, regs, cutting tools, flashlights, GoPros, Fins, towels, bathing suit and 3 bottles of water each.

So unless we come up with a solution to the weight belt and tanks - this is going to be tough... Jogging stroller - one pulls and one pushes on the rocky spots, 2 hardwood poles for carrying a sling with gear hanging off the poles - we need a way to get an additional 60 to 80 lbs of gear up 1200 feet on uneven terrain... And if more folks join this little escapade - and I hope they do :D that is more weight we need to get up the hill...

Put on your thinking cap because we are going to need a creative solution - I am looking into a jogging stroller - I think I found one for $25 and it would be worth it if I can modify it to carry the tanks and weight... I will let you know but I think 3 or 4 weeks is realistic but then remember we will be almost into July and the heat... So maybe this is a September dive when it cools down?

As a remote observer, it looks like its going to have to be something wheeled, cart or stroller. The stroller idea looks good but I wonder how well a single front wheel will handle the rocks. What about a garden/utility cart? Something like this...

But instead of pulling with the handle, rig up some kind of harness and tow it instead. Just brainstorming here...

Of course instead of Sherpas, maybe a couple of draft horses? :D

Clydesdale's are awesome for a couple cold beers but with rattlesnake and bear warnings up and down the trails - I am thinking horse burgers for the bears if we are not careful...

I was actually thinking for the stroller a mono-wheel would be best for when the trail gets really narrow. It does come down to a single track in some areas.
There is no doubt the above would get the gear up most of the mountain - but you still would need to lift it over boulders and culverts built into the trail - go figure the Appalachian Trail had the audacity to not think about Scuba divers needing to get to the ponds... Ha ha ha... :D

So a good idea - but I am thinking like a hand truck with really big wheels and clearance - dual wheel or mono would work - more wheels may get in the way... I need to test it out first....
Keep it coming though because I think we can fly you up here for the trek... ;)

:D Would love that but in that case you are also going to need one of these...

Actually, that looks pretty good.

You know what works really well is two poles with a single bike wheel in the middle.. The wheel carries the weight and is easy to use on a tight trail.. The front and rear people can just pick it up to move over the big stones or trees.... Let me see if I can find a photo of one..

Jim...
I can't get the photo to load.. Google "one wheel load carrying" images...

This is starting to look like something.

What about building it around a diamond plate box instead of the gurney top? That way we won't lose anything [-]if[/-] when it spills. The basic idea appears to be rock solid and tested. Is that a brake or a wheel lock lever in the pic?

I can weld Oxy-fuel, TIG, or Stick at home. Sorry, no MIG. We might be able to distribute the effort if this becomes a "project".

I like it.
