Jukka, since you're reading this, let me share my opinion that your price-fixing requirements on your sellers is really annoying to consumers.

The more I see this thread pop up with new comments, the more I'm considering this item. I have a few questions for you anti Wireless AI out there. Why can't (or shouldn't) I use this side x side with my petrel. I'll have an SPG on one post and a POD on another. A POD on each deco / stage bottle (and probably spg tucked in tight for redundancy). Aside from cost (see below), assuming Jukkas claims of a much more stable wireless interface - why is it really that bad to use Petrel as my primary deco and EON as my primary gauge / compass system (and backup deco).
Looking at some published literature, the Fused RGBM mostly agrees very closely with Buhlmann GF10/100 and gets you out quicker than GF 20/80...
Granted, I'm early 30s and have grown up alongside this tech evolution - so when tech works properly, I like having more capability and instrumentation in a tidy package. I want to hear from some real opponents to see some downsides I may be missing here...
COST PROBLEM: which I agree, $1,440 (without pods) is seriously over market pricing. Consider the Petrel at $850 with more functionality (missing only AI and Compass... Does that add $1,000?), the A300cs with AI at 1249 INCLUDING transmitter, etc - and this is $1,880 with one POD... You're well over reasonably aggressive pricing...

Here it costs £795 plus £125 for the transmitter. I make that about $1500. I think that is too much and by SB standards I am a fan of Suunto. On the other hand that is about the same as a DX but with the big colour display. But twice what I paid for a helo2.
I am also a fan of AI but I am quite paranoid about the transmitter. I wouldn't want one directly on the first stage of a deco cylinder for fear of smashing it. I find the wireless works but always have a proper spg.
10/100 sounds strange to me. I suggest downloading a copy of the DM5 software and running a few plans to compare with the shearwater. You may also want to follow some of the threads regarding deep stops on RBW and the rehash on TDF.

Petrol is not it's competitor and predator started out in $1200-1600 range with no transmitter you have to pay for recouping Rd costs. It's closest competitor is the flawed mares icon HD to which it is identically priced full retail.
Right- the Petrel is not its competition because the Petrel is an infinitely better dive computer.
The mares icon hd is about 900 new and it's major flaw is the transmitter system.
The predator was a real solid step forward trimix oc/cc fisher integrated system on an oled screen using solid algorithms in a rough-tough case. So when it was introduced in 2009 it was the forefront of innovation. The EON looks good but it's not quite the same sort of thing.
Hmm....Petrol is better for technical diving the Eon appears more customizable, looks better, and simplier so not sure depending on your needs one is better than the other. And Petrol does not integrate wirelessly with anything so definely not better if that is your desire.
Mares ICon is $1500 retail not $900 with transmitter. I am excluding grey market Flea Bay sellers as they are not available for the Eon and comarison unfair. Yes its wireles sytem suck very badly and replace the battery and void the warranty. Idiocy. Hence the Eon Steel appears better.
Yes the predator was unique but it was pricey and did not do anything wireless. WIth Fisher connectors over $1800.
I'm not trying to defend the point that the Eon Steel is the best of the best or better than any of these (but clearly vastly superior to the suck ass Mare ICon) only that its price point while high is not much higher than the Icon and lower than the Predator without the transmitter which is how you must compare them.
Bottom line is there are not Eon Steels available now so the stupid "wait is over" in the manufacturers first post seems idiotic to me...Gotta hate marketing fools.

Why were people opposing to the petrol engine when it was invented. The steam engine did it's job quite well. Did it not? :blinking:
As far as I am concerned, AI would be usefull and nice if done right. I really do beleive Shearwater is the company who can make it work. The EON is not my cup of tea. Just to much functionality crammed in this computer. I want a computer that does best what it does, not one that does everything.
