Hello everybody,
I have decided I want to try and complete all the PADI courses from start till Master Scuba Diver,
anyone on here that has done that and can tell me how much money did it cost you? assuming no failed classes or anything.
Any help regarding average prices for the complete course would be high appreciated :)

Prices vary based on shop, region, level of service (whether you're taking private classes or in a larger group) and which specialties you choose to take.

Here's what it looks like at my local shop:
OW Class/Pool Sessions: $325
OW Quarry Sessions: $235
AOW: $215
EFR: $99
Rescue: $399

Specialties (typical of what someone in NJ would take)
Nitrox: $175
Wreck: $195
Drysuit: $195
Deep: $195
Search & Recovery: $195

Total for MSD if you do the straight path... about $2,228 in courses alone. No equipment included.

For the same stuff tpylons quoted: $1,810 (CAD). C&P, OW, and Dry Suit include all rentals, AOW and beyond do not. Books, PICs, etc. included in all pricing.

It also depends on where you take courses too.

A land locked LDS price may just cover instruction, but not materials (books, media, tools), equipment, gas, boat, etc

Whereas say a dive resort may have all of that included, along with tanks, gas, and boat dives.

Or vice versa.

Wherever you choose, find out the included and additional costs, what is included and not. And in some instances, will you have the same instructor throughout the course(s)?

Always get feedback after dives (pool or open water, or out if class), ask questions, no matter how benign, the course will cost the same if you do the bare minimum, or comfortably (and safely) go beyond and develop more and better skills (situational awareness, navigation, buoyancy/trim). The better those skills become instinctive, the more you can do/accomplish safely, and a better enjoyment under water.

There is always something to learn on every dive.

Do you mean "all the PADI courses" from start until MSD? Or do you mean "all the minimally required courses" to earn MSD.

Since you're asking if anyone has done it (of course many have met the minimally required standards) I'm assuming you mean the former, meaning ALL PADI specialties.

I can't tell you the exact figure for such an endeavor, other than to say it certainly requires more money than good sense.

You are forgetting the additional cost of 50 logged dives. Doing all those courses -- and choosing those specialties with 4 dives rather than 0 or 2 -- you need some 20-25 dives in addition to the class dives. If you go the easy route and have specialties that require 0 or 2 dives (Nitrox, PPB, Coral Reef Conservation, Equipment, etc) then you need even MORE non-class dives.

at theis stage of your diving adventure you might be better off researching your goal. If you acheive what you set out to do above and do it through a decent dive centre with good instruction then you will learn a lot no doubt however you may find it a better idea to do something like OW, AOW & nitrox then just chill out for a little while as you learn a lot from diving in the "real world" i.e. not under direct supervision of an instructor. Over time you could then make a better decision as to the specialties that really appeal to you and have better experience from which to get more from the course when you sit it.
your dive certs will be good for life so in theory if you are going to pursue diving for a long period of time then there is no use in rushing through your certs and on the flip side if you are not going to end up diving long term then investing in a bunch of training that won't get used will be a waste of money.

If you have a ton of cash then no issue but if not why don't you get your Open Water done then re-evaluate your wants and needs after that?

I spent probably somewhat less than that--Can. dollars as well. As stated, it varies quite a lot from shop to shop. I did mine at 3 different shops, 2 in the U.S.

TPLYONS:

For the same courses, through our shop, and including quarry fees (separate) for OW dives required for various courses, the total would be ~ $1680.

Four comments:

1. As already noted, prices vary (considerably) by region. It would be helpful to know either where you are, or where you plan to do this.
2. The 'cost' of getting to 50 logged dives will also vary.
3. You can conceivably go for specialties with minimal dives, and lower the cost somewhat (not recommending that, just pointing out a potential impact on price)
4. Some shops / resorts even offer a MSD 'package' that may reflect a lower cost. You might go online, find 1-2, and inquire

Agreed on all counts:

1) We've seen a nearly $500 swing from my region (one of the more expensive in the US) to Colliam's.
2) At $6-8 an air fill around here, that adds another $300-400 to your cost. At $37 a day at Dutch Springs you can probably get 3-4 dives in (call it around $11 a dive. So that's about $17 every time you go under water. No including gas, etc.
3) I quoted some of the most common specialties that I see around here... some can go up or down.
4) Take a look into this too... other shops like mine have run specials, two specialties and get one free (excludes cost of books/certification fee)
