This is one of those situations you go in, explain what happened in as brief a period as possible while ensuring to hit the important points, express your apologies to the court, explain you (hopefully) lack a criminal record, and with any hope the fine will be reduced. It'll all depend on the mood of the judge that day. Dress like you're going to a job interview. Most of those around you won't be so it will make you stand out as someone who cares about what is going on. That's about all I can suggest. I didn't spend my time in law enforcement in FL but those tips right there are going to be helpful regardless of jurisdiction.

Saying, "what lobster? What is this officer even talking about?" is a great way to be found entirely guilty and with the possibility of facing charges of contempt of court. Very few officers these days are not wearing recording devices when they contact people...

My brother and his best friend got arrested in college for "disturbing the geese".
AKA drunk and disorderly? :p

What part of this did you not read? :shakehead:

The judge is going to believe this? Really?
me either...

I read the whole thing, Mr. Steve. I also said "technicalities."
The courts are (should be) ruled by law and a trial will require evidence. I don't care what the judge believes.

My comment: What lobster, what eggs? I don't know what's going on your honor. Was really just supposed to be funny, with just a hint of truth to the point I was making.

If during a murder trial, do you think the prosecutor could get away with disposing of the body, melting down the gun, and trashing all the other evidence and expect the court to just take the detectives word for it that there used to be evidence?

In reality, I suspect the OP will plead his case, pay a little less than $500 fine, and everyone will move on.

Dash cam audio will work fine. And yes, you're right. He'll end up with a lesser plea, maybe $300 fine, and his time in front of the judge will amount to no more than minutes at the very longest. Most expensive lobster he'll never eat. It'll feel something like :dance2:

I said that, It's like handling a speeding ticket; you don't need a lawyer. Dress nicely, show up in court, admit to the charge, pay the fine, and leave.

I'm not really suppose to say this..... But, Ask to see the DA (before court) ... Be straight up honest and ask for a filing of the charge and a fine of court cost... Best of both worlds, They get their money and you don't get a record....

If you were nice to the officer.... They will agree with the filing when the DA asks them ...

Good luck...

Jim....
