You're kidding right? Have you ever seen or talked to divers from these agencies? Their knowledge and skill is often better than many OW instructors from some of the agencies you do accept. How about grads from a Scripps 100 hour course? I'd trust my kids to dive with grads from any of those agencies before some DM's and Instructors.

We don't recognize either as agencies for continuing education. Again, we don't require c-cards for fills.

I'm curious as to why this is the case?
Is it because each of these agencies have a prerequisite course before any of their other courses can be taken? (my initial guess)
Or is there another reason you don't recognize either agency as having a valid continuing education path?

Insurance? Lack of familiarity?, etc.?

As Jim pointed out, the skills speak for skills and standards, as demonstrated by each agency speaks for itself.

Just curious...actually I'm surprised there are as many different agencies as there are. Some here, I've never heard of.

Thanks,
Mitch

Why not? Each one has absolute beginner diver certification levels, just as all the other agencies do. Each one takes divers step by step up the certification/experience ladder. What is wrong with those agencies that you refuse to accept their credentials?

The fact that you don't recognize GUE or UTD makes the shop sound ignorant or lazy(or both). They either don't know much about other training agencies and do not wish to learn. It sounds like someone just grabbed a list somewhere and said "I have heard of most on this list so this is what we will use."

His Wikipedia link infers that they have a specific reason for not including either agency.
Maybe GUE and UTD divers don't buy what his shop is selling. ;-)

So what your saying is that you would fill a commercial saturation divers tanks, but he wouldn't be qualified to dive with your group... :joke:

We'll air fill anyone, with or without a card; the paperwork insures us from any responsibility on how the filled tanks are to be used. We'll give you all the trimix you want, what you do with it is your decision. The c-cards are required for continuing education from our instructors and for diving with our groups.
