Have anyone tried to use this light with GoPro camcorder? It's not small but if I have a tray, is there any adapter that allows me to mount this light? How is it different from video light like Sola? I'm thinking of getting this light to go with my wife's GoPro. She likes filming fishes but is not serious about it so she can't justify spending a lot of money on lighting like Sola. Thanks.

My opinion (and I haven't tried it yet) is that the hot spot is too focused. You need a broader beam for video.

Is there any plans to make a this as a canister light. I think the light head is great, and would be plenty bright as a primary canister light. I am working on a Delrin Adapter (plug) to go into the back of the light head, and connect my canister to it. My plan is to make this screw in like the body of the light with a copper ring around the rim, and a spring in the middle so that you can switch between a canister, and the body that came with it. Perhaps someone has done this, and I am just wasting my time.

I would LOVE if DRIS did something like dive rite did and made a optional cord to make this a cansiter. I cant imagine it would be impossible, or even that hard. Someone do it!

Let's be honest here. As great as this DRIS 1000 is, it is still not in the same league as a decent canister light today, in terms of both brightness and beam angle. Sure if you use it on a night dive, it is as good as an canister because both produce more than enough light. Take it to a day time dive in low viz water, you will see why people use 21W HID. No offense to DRIS light, it is a great light especially for the cost.

It worked fantastic as a primary backup within a cave during the day! :)

I wont disagree with you at all but if there was a way to simply add a length of cable to the current light (like the old DR LED500) seperating the battery from the head and then mounting the head on my hand vs having to hold the whole light in my hand I would pay for that. The current light works great for the lake diving I do around here and not having to hold it would be great.

I'd be happy with a simple AA or AAA battery version to reduce the bulk & weight of the lights. Cannister & cables wouldn't help in my application.
