DIN v. Yoke! Fight!

Let me guess, he is trying to unload a din reg he can't sell. He is giving really BAD advise.


You are not paying attention. The only reason he NEEDS the DIN is because he is buying a "super high performance" regulator....Much better than your or mine..
 
This is easy. Every other tank and reg you come across will be Yoke except your own. Yoke is safe and is the norm.
 
Ugh oh, this is causing me to go away from yoke (after I just decided on it).. Ugh. It's game of: what is the likelihood of the extrusion occurring under water if I went yoke, in combination with, what is the likelihood that I will have difficulty getting DIN tanks for my charters and Caribbean dives if I went DIN.

Unlikely? Maybe, but it does happen.
As far sa the "european" standard of different valves for nitrox.. Never seen it...

Oh, I see, a super performance regulator with a bigger hole in it. Hmmph. This is a super performance regulator with much bigger holes in it, Royal Aqua Master with Phoenix first stage and HPR second stage:

And if you have ever wondered what putting a Saturn V rocket in your mouth might be like, here is your super performance, Tekna T2100, and yes, it has a DIN and a yoke:

Or, durable, good performance, solid reliability and it has a DIN and yoke also, Scuba Pro R109:

The Mk V type firsts do not use an adapter, as such, to convert to DIN, you remove the outlet body and replace it with either the yoke or the DIN body. At least mine do.

The questions are simple.
Are you Diving in the US or Pacific? Yes
Are you doing Tech diving? No
Are you diving in a Cold water environment? No

Therefore buy yoke......

Simple
 
The question I wonder about is this, how much of a problem is I ring extrusion? Or is it another of these "problems" that shops use to sell you a more expensive reg.
In 20 years I've not come across a single case of this happening.
O rings falling out or bursting, yes, but not extruding under pressure.
Since I carry a tube of o rings in my BCD pocket it's not a problem.
 
I have my own regs and my own tanks. I use yoke. I live and dive in FL.

I prefer DIN in theory, but yoke is so much more widely accepted. I can rent tanks no problem if I need too, and all of my dive buddies have yoke regs so they can use my tanks.

all the o-ring problems I've had have happened on the boat before we even got in the water. I just carry a bunch of spares.
 
Myself, I am not tech, but everything I own is DIN. I also have a couple of adapters for my regs, as well as convertible valves on all my tanks, so I can "swing the other way" if needed. I can't see a reason to have to be exclusively one or the other, but do know what my personal preference is . . .

When said o-ring blow at depth, its more than inconvenient - check my sig if you think it dont happen..
 
Stick with DIN and get an yoke convertor.
