Reason # 388: กับแกล้ม - Drinking Food

That is, food that is usually consumed while drinking alcoholic beverages. There is a huge range.

This is Moo Manao (หมูมะนาว) - Pork marinated in lemon with garlic and pounded hot chili peppers. Usually served with chilled raw vegetables such as kale, cucumber, etc.
 
Two things draw my attention:
1) Chopsticks?
Pretty common to serve chopsticks with take-out noodles. We have a whole draw full of 'em:

2) TONS of soy sprouts. What else is in it besides sprouts and mee?

You're right, this one was pretty heavy on the sprouts. It also included the usual egg and pork. There are two things that make the Korat-style fried noodles "special":


  • The noodles are made in a different way from ordinary rice noodles. But genuine Korat noodles are very hard to find these days.
  • The dish is much spicier than ordinary Pad Thai.
 
Interesting about the chopsticks.... people down here don't typically use chopsticks.

Chinese noodle dishes are often served with chopsticks. Otherwise it's fork and spoon.

The Poi Sang Long ceremony in Mae Hong Son is a Buddhist novice ordination ceremony, but it is unlike any other ceremony of its type in Thailand.

Reason # 391: The Bangsaen Wan Lai Songkran Festival. (April 16 and 17, 2012).
The stupa building contest (with sand!) is a predominant element of the Songkran festivities in Chon Buri.

Reason # 392: The Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival. (27-29 April 2012)
Phra Pradaeng in Samut Prakan Province is one of the few places in Thailand that celebrates the Songkran Festival in the Thai-Mon style, featuring a magnificent parade.
