What should I use to keep my integrated air/inflator over my chest?

I have an Aeris air link integrated backup second stage / inflator.

I have a Dive Rite basic harness with backplate and wing.

When I am diving the inflator ends up behing my back, and I worry about needing to get my hands on it in a hurry.

Is there some kind of simple thing I can buy to get it to stay tamed down so it isn't going everywhere? Some kind of nylon thing that has velcrow or something.. I am hoping there is something kind of minimal and simple to go along with my forum name. He He.

Thanks

Go to a climbing store and buy a bunch of shock cord. It's like the duct tape of scuba diving.

Put a loop around your harness to hold it in place.

I use 2-sided velcro tape. You can sew or glue it to your harness or just reposition it as necessary as you set your gear up. I also use a short bungee loop that runs through the harness D-ring to capture the inflator hose. That will also keep you alt/inflator from going AWOL.

Shock cord works great, I used to use a piece of elastic on my left shoulder to hold my spg hose and stop it from slipping behind me, then i had one of these:

On my main cummerbund so i could stop the console from dangling. This allowed me to have the hose securely fastened to my body and i could give it a gentle tug if i wanted to raise it up to look at it.

+1. My setup is just about exactly the same. My wing has a velcro flap thing already attached to it for this purpose, and other people make their own version of this with either velcro, shock cord (bungee), or bicycle inner tubes. I also have a super fancy loop of bungee (a hair tie, lol) on the opposite shoulder's d-ring which I loop around the mouthpiece of the inflator, which keeps it across my chest, not dangling, easy to find, and it easily pulls right out when I need it.

Okay -- I went and looked at the basic harness, and it's just like mine. Your left chest d-ring is held in place with a triglide. Take some of the 1/8" shock cord that's already been recommended (I buy mine at REI). Cut off about six inches of it or so. Push the harness webbing up through the triglide so there is space between the webbing and the metal, and pass the shock cord through that space. Then tie it so that you have a loop about 2 1/2 to 3" in diameter. Put the inflator through the loop until the shock cord is above all the mechanism of the inflator. (Some people like to put the loop BETWEEN the LP hose and the inflator proper; I put mine around both.) This will hold the inflator in place, but allow you to elevate it to dump gas.

Would the "run the inflator through the loop" advice still hold since it is an AAS? I do have my non-AAS inflator run through a loop, and I can still raise it enough to vent and to orally inflate; but would it be the same for usage as an AAS? Maybe so -- I've never used a combination inflator/AAS and the question just popped into mind.

You would just have to make the loop large enough to get the regulator orifice of the AAS in your mouth easily -- or make it big enough that you could easily remove it from the loop. It would still function to keep the inflator hose from flipping over your shoulder.
