I just landed in Cozumel today to light showers and overcast. Hoping this one stays away from me but it has to go somewhere...

From: Tropical Storm Irene : 5 Day Forecast Map : Weather Underground

Maps should auto update for the duration...

The models expect it to go thru the northern Antilles then Bahamas maybe, but you never know...?

Sitting here in Puerto Plata, hoping this storm doesn't rock our boat too much.

Hope she brings some needed rain to North Georgia.

Don, I suppose Harvey is trying to keep you wet. Hope your week gets better.

Harvey did send a thunderstorm that woke me at 5:30am and got louder by 7 but it blew off by 8 ok. We're getting more rain on Coz Monday I guess, then all clear for the week I think. Ol' Irene seems pretty committed to the Greater Antilles and Florida for now.

I think this is the first one to make hurricane in the Atlantic this year if she holds up. I can't tell much on this molasses slow internet. This time a few years ago I was evacuating Coz before H.Dean could arrive, even tho he swerved south just before hitting.

Texas is still hot & dry. We need one to break up over the Rio Grande like last year and pump moisture into our area. Wheat planting will be here soon for the farms that got rain - so far, one of ours.

Hope she brings some needed rain to North Georgia.
Amen... I'm getting sick of watering...

Don:

On today's 8:00 PM forcast tract (your pic is a "real time link"), just south of the little bump in the peninsular by the yellow dot is me!!!!

I'm hoping the low coming down stays long and strong enough to pull it to the grave yard. A Cat one is no biggie, but I have more than one house, and the insurers won't pay any claim if they're not buttoned up. NOAA is better at forecasting track than strength.

And tired of not having a crop this year. Crop insurance helps but we'd rather produce.

I can barely see that pic, sometimes. All my speed tests go to Ft.Myers or Honduras. I don't know what's up with the net here but it's not getting fixed on a Sunday.

So you can't get to all of the houses to board up? I guess hiring it done in an alert is pricey. It could wander off by Thursday. :idk:

Only one house is pricey. And that bothers me, because the community architectural features won't let me use roll downs or accordions. Which means panels or impact glazing. The impact glazing is uber expensive, but I'll probably do it. The guy that works for me putting up the panels is an independent contractor, and has lots of high end out of State home owners as clients. He has always come through though.
But, I'm doing the Snoopy dance. Don't know if you saw one of my posts on FB, but I was saying this thing should go out to sea. For it to hit us, it would have to go over the mountains of Hispaniola as well as Cuba. That would weaken (shred) her. Just saw the 11:00. I'm dancin'. (low continues to pull it West.)

I wonder how T&C Aggressor and Explorer Venture T&C II are doing. Latest track by Hurricane center shows going right over the T&C after hitting the east coast of PR tonight and tomorrow. Ponce and Rincon areas seem to be in the cross hairs.
