So do I.

Just to give follow up for the second trip to Smith Lake, it was much the same as the first trip. The vis was 18-20 ft, temps were around 76 at the bottom, found two other boats that were not on the lines. People kept to themselves, we had no issues whatsoever, changing room is adequate with hot showers and restroom facilities. I'm not putting it on any list of places I "want to dive" but for first dive of the year and getting comfortable with new gear, it worked very well for us. Its also the closest lake to my area with any hope of seeing past three feet. We had a good time feeding bream with dried shrimp and basically just playing around. I'd recommend the lake for reasons mentioned above as there's no issues with stumps, the diving area is basically kept to itself away from swimming areas over by the RV's, and no boat motors on the lake make it safe during summer use.

The vis was 18-20 ft,

That's pretty decent for out there. In my experience 6-10' is about the the norm and at times I've seen vis than a couple of feet.

Glad to hear that things are getting better out there. I no longer live in the area, so I no longer have any need or desire to revisit Smith Lake. I am sure there are lots of great people in the Vidor area. Unfortunately my only interaction with its residents at the time were negative.

That is very uncalled for. What is your "problem" with Austin divers?

ALL of my most solid dive buddies live in and around Austin. BTW, they are lot more experienced divers than your profile indicates. From my POV, you are the person to avoid.

Somebody must have met "Everybody's favorite diver", LOL.

Oh I don't know, maybe just all the derogatory comments about east texans all because one guy who changed his clothes in public had a bad experience. I think you just confirmed the point of my weak attempt at humor. Lighten up Francis.
