Mines the mirror image of Andy's (devon diver).

I run primary reg and inflator of the left post, with SPG sometimes (I'm still not happy with it being either on my left or right hand side) and all back-up on the right.
Left-post is pretty unpopular for your long hose, but it's something that makes sense to me. If I experience roll-off then I'm the first person to know about it, and I don't get into the situation whereby I switch to a left-post back-up and find it rolled off. I like it that way as I don't subscribe to the thinking that my rig should be set-up for my buddy's OOA. It should be set for my comfort. Also If everything is going up that certain creek without a paddle and I've lost the primarys then I know that everything is coming off my right hand, which suits me as I'm right handed; in fact you'll often see me reach across my body to inflate my BCD with my right hand anyway.

The downside is hose length. My 7ft Primary can be a little snug when hogarthed, but I prefer it bungeed. And the inflator hoses do need to be quite short as they go straight down rather than crossing behind your head.

PADI and GUE have standards for Twinset set-up. IANTD (who I did most of my tech training with) don't. TDI I'm not so sure. The reality is that if you find something to your benefit keep it. Most tend to go with what their first tech instructor uses. I did as well. I switched to left post on my trimix course mimicking my instructor, then was forced to use right post when I did my Adv Eanx instructor course. I hated diving right. For me it feels alien. Basically experiment and see what works.

These sound like excellent questions for your instructor... Why not take notes and ask him... isn't that why you are taking the class?
No doubt in my mind that he will but considering the wealth of knowledge present on this board and internet, it does not cost much to ask before hand. In fact, having a good idea before the course may make you inquire why your instructor would want to make you set-up differently or challenge him on some ism.
One instructor had me removed the plastic knobs of my wing purge valves...another one made me realize how hard voir impossible it was trying to locate two flimsy strings using 7 mm gloves/dry gloves and no feels.
I ended up adding a second wing to my set-up for buoyancy redundancy when I did my Adv Nitrox/Deco procs thus requiring an addition LP hose for the second inflator.

Unless it's your buddy who's on it when it happens. Hopefully, he won't be in a position where he can't signal you to fix it.

The reality is that 99.9% of the time the reg is in my mouth. Why should I configure differently for those percentages? It would be like driving on snow chains in the summer.

I remember that thread. Again it only comes down to the fact of your buddy running out of air. That's the main argument against. But still, my rig, my choice. So I have to check for roll-off on an exit if gas sharing. Not a mega concern, I'm wreck head not a cave dweller; gas sharing exits would be considerably shorter than when exiting a cave.

Do I really need to change to right post because my buddy runs out of air? Or do I need to get a buddy who can manage his air effectively? OOA's happen, but not frequently (in my case never) so I'll keep it left.
 
I also have the Tek3's and have my primary and lp inflator hose for my wings on the right post. I have my backup, SPG and drysuit inflator on my left post.

Thanks for posting that again. The last time i read it I didn't notice the section on the 5 LP port first stage.
That looks much tidier and like it would put a lot less stress on the hoses.
Are there any disadvantages to using the 5 port swivel turret?

Why was diaphram chosen for the right primary post, but piston for the left?
