There is no difference in the black or white fins except for the color. When I am diving for recreation, I wear my black fins. When I am DM'ing on a boat, I wear one white and one black fin for the other divers to determine who the dive guide is that they should follow.

I was very interested in them when they first came out, tried some in a pool, liked them, but...most of my diving is extended travel diving and the chance that they may break at the rib is not a chance Im willing to take, maybe small but more than a few people have reported this problem...Ive heard a similar problem with the mares x-stream which also initially appealed, ended up buying some oceanic vipers, for travel, and attached some Tusa springs, pretty light fins, I like them.

This is in fact a common problem. SP has a no questions asked warranty for replacement, and my buddy has already went through two pair. They are very light and very comfortable. I read somewhere (sorry no source) that they were designed to offer better propulsion with less effort. Diving with mine, I have found this to be true. My buddy on the other hand has a voracious kick. Perhaps the reason he is mowing through them. Maybe some truth to my reasoning maybe not. Either way, I am happy with mine.

Greetings fellow divers:

Just thought I'd share a bit of my limited experience with the Seawing Nova... I love them!! I've had two different styles of fins in my history (the original scuba pro Jet fin from 1970 whatever) and a pair of Mares full foot blades (3 years old and are now my backup fins). I do not have a big, long, strong kick so my results may vary from yours. I find them very comfortable when on and love the ease of the strap (shotcord) fasteners. They are very fast!! the way the fin works it's almost like having a "double" kick. They are significantly easier to kick then the old Jet fins that I had, but a little bit harder/firmer than my wife's Mares split fins. I find that they function very well when I'm hovering too... I can move side to side pretty easily with just one flick of a foot. Backing up however... isn't quite as easy. I weigh about 170 lbs and as I said before, I don't have a big, long kick, so I don't really put alot of force on them. I've read that some divers have gone through a pair in 6 months or less, but this is not my case.

I have used them now for a year was recommended the fins by Dive shop owner in Miami she loved them and let me try them... I loved them and came home and ordered them... have not been sorry and have let others try them and they liked them too... I am happy /

I've had mine for 6 months now and I have 10+ dives on them I must say that they get a lot of attention and everyone has loved their looks and performance. I am faster in the water than my buddy with his Tusa split fins with no extra effort, so that's nice. Price was a little high but I'm ok with it so far due to the performance.

Hi,
I have around 25 dives with my SP Seawings and I have no complaints with them they are fast, light weight, great in strong currents, have great power when needed. ( the other day I was doing some beach clean-up and I found a bag on the bottom of the floor and I tried to pull to bring it up and I couldn't. So, I just grabbed hold the bag as tight as I could and kicked a few times and the off I went bag/ sand and all). I have done boat dive, beach entry, stride jumped ( hope that is the right name, hehehe. I even had to be around big rocks in a marine. The fins got scratched up good. But, nothing has broke.
Just my .02 cents.

I have used my SP Seawings in the Red Sea, Mauritius & Madagascar in various contexts - no complaints. They are light & fast. However, I have noticed that my calf muscles cramp a little but hey that could be due to my age! However, I have found backing up difficult - Finbob

As the song says - all lies & jests; still a man hears what he wants to hear, & disregards the rest

Many shops will allow to try out in a pool to see if they are right for you. Very comfortable and good control.
