If any website, or any individual, tells you that Molassas Reef / Eagle Ray Alley are in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, ask yourself these two questions:

How far off shore is considered Florida State waters?

How far off shore are Molassas Reef / Eagle Ray Alley?

....

To be honest, at least to me, it's a non-issue. The geographic location of sites like "The Christ" or Molasses Reef it is really irrelevant to me because I know I can call up any dive shop in Key Largo, mention that I want to dive those sites (even using the name "Pennekamp") and they'll accommodate me. :)

But it is cool to actually see the geographical boundaries and I appreciate you sharing that.

The rest of the world does not refer to US as Ignorant Americans for nothing!

Joust got back into diving after a long hiatus myself. It's great to be back! Great choice on the gear, by the way. I dive with that same mask and had those same booties for a long time. You'll get good use out of them. Welcome back to the diving community!

Thanks and welcome back as well. I wish I could say that I was able to use the Atomic mask but while it fit fine in the store, it wasn't right for me in the water. Had to return it but that's okay. I know there's a great mask for me out there. I'll find it. :)

Enjoy your diving and thanks again. :)

Welcome back to SCUBA. When you try a mask on in the store make sure to put a snorkel or reg in your mouth. The smile lines can break the seal depending on the fit! I had a mask that could suck my eyeballs out of their sockets but as soon as I opened my mouth to put in my reg it would have an annoying trickel of water...

Thanks! That was one thing I didn't do which I'm sure contributed to the Atomic mask not fitting as I would expect. I'll definitely do that next time.

*sigh* Eagle Ray Alley.....what a magical spot on Molasses Reef!!! I love Pennekamp Park! Also congrats a great experience buying new gear that actually fits! Just wanted to share my Eagle Ray Alley experience from this past Dec and we caught it on video! YouTube - ‪Spotted Eagle Rays with the Key Largo Scuba Shack‬‏
Everyone should get to see something that amazing!

What a fantastic video. The school of rays was impressive. Wish I was there that day.

Welcome back! I was at Pennekamp for the first time a couple of years ago. Saw some creatures I had never seen anywhere else. Dove the Grove and it was SWEET! Wish I lived close to the ocean.
One thing about diving. It's a great way to turn a large fortune into a small fortune. Have fun!
