Did you have to do a deep dive as part of your AOW? I was reading in the book last night about having emergency breathing equipment stationed at 15'. I have never seen that before for a dive just below 60'. Did you get taught that as well?

A bit of advice for you. When you do your AOW ask your instructor how you would calculate how much air you will need for a dive to say 100 feet. This knowledge will help you in your diving.

Alternatively look up Gas management on Scubaboard.

The reason I mention this is that in my experience having extra gas at 15 foot is a rarity and you should not expect to see it everywhere you dive.
