We are looking at hotel Cozumel as a possible hotel for our next trip. My main concern is their kids club. What the web site says about kids club is "It is open for children between 5 to 12 years old and at least on adult must remain in the hotel while the child is having fun with us." So if I am reading that right, only one of us could dive at a time? That might be a deal breaker.

Has anyone stayed and gone diving at Hotel Cozumel and had kids? Did they dive one at a time? Otherwise the place looks great.

Last time we stayed at the Iberostar. The only problem there was that kids club did not open until 10:15 am so we would have had to dive in the afternoon. (We left our kids home last time. But had friends who brought theirs and went diving in the afternoons).

Good luck on that, but I can understand the hotel's position. Running a fun club for kids is one thing. Being responsible for them is quite another. I bet they could help you book a qualified babysitter.

The Iberostar did not seem to care if you were in the hotel or not. I know the cruise ships let you leave your kids in kids club while you go a shore at the various stops. Most of the kids clubs we have used did not seem to care if you were "on site" or not.

This might be a good read, and it's pretty much the policy at ALL of the resorts with kids clubs.

Thanks, our kids are 5,8 and 9. So their ages seem to fit fine with the kids club age groups... We are looking for a kids club like they had at Iberostar, where they have activities for the kids to do while the parents are doing things like scuba where the kid cannot follow.

I am wondering if this is why Hotel Cozumel lets kids stay free. Maybe they don't have much to offer kids. Iberostar had activities for kids from 10:30 to 5. They even took them into the restaurant and fed them while you were gone (if need be).:dontknow:

I've stayed at both, more than once but my stays at the Iberostar were many years ago, so although things may have changed I doubt it. The Kids Club at the Iberostar is the better of the 2, which is understandable due to star rating / pricing. That said I think the Hotel Cozumel has a good kids club, but that's just an observation because I haven't quizzed any parents on it.
I still firmly believe that ALL of the resorts have the same OFFICIAL policy re at least one parent being on the grounds when the kids are at Kids Club. How could the resort contact a parent who's drifting along at depth should a medical emergency come up?
You may have gone diving, but I'd bet it isn't policy.
