Hello everyone, we are a dutch couple that are staying in West Palm Beach for a weekend (14-15-16 may). Mainly for water skiing but we also like to make one or two dives at Blue Heron Bridge. We will take only our masks and fins to Florida and not BCD's or regulators. So we will have to rent some gear and of course also some tanks. Is it possible to just go to a dive shop and rent gear without going with them on a diving trip? And of course we don't know anything about tides, how will we know that we are going at the right tide? Can anyone advise us.

Or else, are there dive shops that can take you on a diving trip to the Blue Heron Bridge? Or are there diving clubs which we can join just for the weekend?

I hope there is a way for us to go diving there. I heard a lot about the Blue Heron Bridge and I am very looking forward to diving there.

Force E scuba shop on Blue Heron Blvd is located very close to BHB. they can rent all the gear you'll need.

Remember to only dive the bridge at slack high tide.

The Video Dude and I were up there again today. Water temp was a chilly 66 degrees. We had planned on two hours bottom time but it was just too dang cold. And there's some sort of nasty algae bloom going on. Viz was horrible. Icky red stuff everywhere. :yuck: I even braved the freezing apres dive shower!

But in the middle of all that, a magical wonderful seahorse! My photos are not post worthy. I'm sure Video Dude will post something.

I have to admit that I was cold in the water today. My computer read 68, but I believe yours was correct. Today, I could have used my 3mm suit and I would have been comfortable. after the first hour

Given the cold water and that I was diving a mid-range lens with crap viz, I decided to end the dive with 2000 psi. ;)

Location at bridge is undisclosed as it has been discovered that poachers - yes that's right POACHERS, not "collectors" - have been reading this thread and using it for their illegal gains. Phil Foster Park is a NO TAKE ZONE - THAT MEANS YOU DON'T TAKE ANYTHING (except pictures and video, the way it SHOULD be!).

Doug, thanks for the video. I surely home the water is warmer on March 9 or 10. I'll be in FL ready to dive the bridge again.
 
If you look closely you will see that the seahorse has perched itself on a hermit crab. We didn't even notice that on the dive!
