Diving a couple of weeks ago, at 2 Harbors, Catalina, three of us ended up about 300 yds down current from the boat. We had the Novas. We took a bearing, dropped down to about 15 ft & kicked back to the boat in about 5 min.... Pretty sweet in current. I couldn't had done that in my old fins...Scuba-pro jet fins...

I have been using this fins for the last three months and did over 30 dives. I am a new diver by far, also borrowed other fins from friends and I love my seawing nova for open water dives while OMS Slipstream is my preference for wreck or cave dives.
Get one now or borrow someone else's seawing nova fins to see the benefits for yourself. =)

After reading all the great reviews from people on this board I went out and got my wife a pair of the Nova's!!
MAN ALIVE THEY ARE BRILLIANT!!
I used to have to drag her along with me when there was any sort of current but now she is dragging me!!
I am off to the dive shop to get my own pair!! A nice white pair so that I can do my white balancing off of them!! ha ha

I walked into my LDS and saw these, and thought they looked stupid and figured they were old. the shop owner asked me if I was checking them out and I said nah. He said they are the best fins hes got. I said, "oh really?" He then showed me the scuba lab review and I was intrigued. I tried them out in a pool and they were awesome. I zoomed around, the comfort was amazing. No kick fatigue, feels so light on your feet and I could swim faster than anyone else and at the end be far less tired.

Anyway, I now own a pair and have 8 dives on them.

I will say this again, they are EXTREMELY comfortable. The bungee strap is better than a spring strap for sure. It fits snugly for me (I wear a size 11 M shoe USA and a Large fin with 3mm boot fits perfectly). I feel like I have room to go on boot size as well and the bungee strap would hold it in. They are very easy to get on and off, again even better than spring straps.

In the water even the slightest movement of your foot produces a kick motion. Unlike regular fins, the kicks with these seem to NOT silt as badly. Other fins can silt from 5+ feet away where as with these it SEEMED like I wouldn't silt and could do the frog kick although I'm still getting used to that kick in general. I think its just that those small movements that produce propulsion with these fins don't silt and small movements with other fins wouldn't product any thrust you end up kicking harder and silting. IDK though, just seems that way so far.

They also are supposedly positively buoyant. My feet sink so I got these and my feet still sink so oh well haha. My boots are probably whats so negative.

I really like mine. For me, comfort is #1 with these (which includes fit, getting on and off, and lack of fatigue). Speed is #2 because I try to go slow. and #3 would be that it "kicks" even without a proper kick motion, which makes them great for multiplying the magnitude of small flutters.

Another plus that I never thought of is that my buddy says they are very identifiable underwater (I have black ones, not white) so they know its me from a distance.

My other fins were full blades and I would really have to work them. These are great.

I think everyone should try these. You'd have to be pretty stubborn to go back to your old fins considering these will be more comfortable and faster. I got mine for $130 which is another plus, as a lot of high end fins are $180+ and still require you to add on spring straps.

I think that there are a lot of funny un informed comments here. Kind of the typical "diver know it all comments". If you really want the background to the fin, then you might try looking up it's background U.S. Patent 4,775,343. I'm sure that none will take the time to really become educated. I have to agree with the comment that the force fin looks or acts nothing like the fin with a loction of flexing. It also tested terribly in test designed to measure speed, efficency, and force. I'm being very very generous when I say "terribly". Probably if one would like to see what the future of your sport might look like, then with a little imagination the Smith Aerospace DOL-fin idea might be of interest.

"it" being which?

Im kind of interested in these fins but am a little concerned re reports of them breaking at the joint, all my diving is extended travel diving so them breaking on a trip would not impress me. I might wait until they have been around a bit longer to see how much of a real problem the joint actually is. Has anyone who owns them pulled the cap off the buckle and seen how the bungee attaches? according to a scubapro rep the bungee is adjustable?

Mark, please share with us the details of your Force Fin test, fin models,, the people who tested them....and anything else you can contribute. Thanks, Bob

Out of curiosity, which posts are the "un informed.....diver know it all comments"? It seems most of the posts I have read are just peoples opinions of the Novas and how people liked them and felt they performed for them.
