Unless . . . [speculation] . . . he left his crappy stuff down there with an old reg because he was staging a disappearance . . . as in, he didn't want to leave his 'good stuff'. [/speculation]
Unless he was swapping regs underwater as he needed the tanks. I've actually heard of people doing this when they didn't have enough regs.

Hey, I'm just speculating. You're citing known stupidity . . .

Looks more like a promotional spot for deepswims videos now :shakehead:

That's what I was thinking too. They are good for showing people what NOT to do though. :shakehead: I watched a couple of them and they made me feel uncomfortable and angry with all the stupidity abound.

I am learning a lot from the discussion. :thumb:

Me too. If I ever thought of venturing into a cave out of curiosity, I sure don't now.

I don't really care where it gets read, but the good reading AND education would continue if it were relocated to a spot that might be deemed more appropriate.

If memory serves correct, it would be the 4th thread started or moved. Lol That has to be a record somewhere. I would agree that by now it has no more usefull information other than the making of good bathroom reading.

I think this guy needs a thread/forum all to himself. But what to name it? Cave Abductions?

Leave it here ... if you move it back to A&I it's just gonna draw attention from the trolls ... then they'll close it like they did the other ones.

Now, now, let's not be hasty... I've taken a reg off underwater to replace a stage bottle o-ring that blew on recharge and it works just fine. Known stupidity would be if you didn't take that reg straight to the shop for overhaul after such an incident.
:)

I've swapped a deco reg when it blew...but that wasn't PLANNED.

If he planned to swap regs to save money, then thats even more faulty thinking. If that was common practice on earlier dives, how much money was he spending on overhauls? and how much downtime did he have on regs being overhauled?
There are so many strange inconsistencies.

New VR3, new sidemount rig.
Staged bottles without regs.

Taking a year off to dive.
Not willing to pay for cave training or any additional training.

Upstanding, respected man with family and community.
Dishonest behavior with vandalism to gate, lies about training level and experience, disrespectful behavior.

Based on the little we know through this thread and what we can find on the internet, there are 2 very distinctly different sides to this man.

Anything is possible.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
